Warning lots of Pic's
Morning,
currently 48
Lloyd,
these are taken fresh this AM (lol) your spot is where the van is parked. We were in 173 last year. Your site is across the drive from Gordon and I am just behind Gordon. The Pictures are taken from our rows commons area.
Other Pictures are the Hwy 8 redo and where you can ride your bikes for miles. I can't believe that concrete is that thick, I'm guessing a foot plus for sure. They put down asphalt under the cement too.
Looking forward to meeting you and the Misses.
Kind of funny how many times you were in Mpls and we never connected but we will.
How many days till take off?
I'm having trouble loading the pics so another post coming.
The road we are on is a bike path, road, 4 Wheeler path that goes for miles
Best of luck Jeff, nothing worse than a dang headache.

Good Afternoon Gang,
Coffee was good this morning, got the pool looking GREAT, a little chilly right now(73°), but with the solar sheets and the heat pump, it should be around 80° by later this afternoon. Bright sunshiny day, with the temps in the low to mid 70's.
Lloyd,
It warmed up enough that the heat pump started working again, so we are staying warm, Have to get some Polypropylene Glycol for the Hydro Hot and it will be working, haven't looked at the furnace yet, probably tomorrow, a lot of this just has to do with the unit sitting idle for so long. I haven't had time to look at it, but I think tomorrow I should have time, still need to wash the tire and wheels so that I can put the tire covers on. Supposed to be fairly warm for the next ten days, so shouldn't need any heat for a while.
Tim,
Road has to hold up under 80,000#+ trucks running up and down it all day, that is why so thick, I would guess that the asphalt underneath is used as a solid base for the concrete. Good pics by the way. Lloyd and Deb are good people, you will enjoy being around them.
IndyGlenn,
If you were a little closer, I would invite you over to play, The whole idea is to have a good time, which we do.
Have a great day all,
Frank

Good afternoon peeps. WOW, 500 pages now.
Good coffee this morning despite my having a hard time getting going.
Started my day replacing the distributor and drivers window regulator in DW's Honda. She wants to trade it in and get a new(er) car. Thinks she HRV. She really wants an Evoke but I nixed that due to routine maintenance costs. Nearly $200/hr labor at the dealer.
Ripped out the PACbrake valve body yesterday, cleaned lubed and put it back in right side up. See CLAC post Will see today if she functions.
Should be loading up tomorrow if the CLACer doesn't find something else that needs to be done before I hit the road. But better to have all the bases covered you can than to stick to a schedule and have major problems or a safety issue.
More soon............

Good morning everyone! Coffee is very good today!
Raining since last night, and still raining! It was so bad in the south part of Thailand, that our internet got knocked out clear up here? It is back on now, but still spotty, and has went dead a couple time today already! Lots of flooding in the south, but here where we live, we have storm drains, and a very big river right down the road, with very high banks, plus our house sits up on high ground!
Jay, glad you are getting ready to take off, i watched a video of Donner Pass in N. Ca./ Nevada line and the snow they are dealing with! Man it is deep up there and the road is still closed!
Keep a close eye on the sky, and the weather reports this time of the year!
Be safe, tanks never lower than 1/2, and take your time!
Tim, never seen asphalt for a base for concrete, usually it is a combo of dirt, stabilized with lime, all mixed together, then compacted, and is hard as a rock when finished! They may have sprayed a solution on it to make it dark like asphalt, but you never know? I have been away from the road construction for many years now!
I worked on the crew for the concrete road that leads into ADM from the interstate I-72 in Decatur, Il. and that concrete was 18" thick! The road was Brush College Rd.
Frank, sounds like things are shaping up in the park!
Better get the heat working, winter is not over yet! Having 3 sources of heat is nice! Having them all working when needed, Priceless!
Well, still raining, better post this while i still have internet!
Everyone have a great day! Rail!
PS, Be great to hear from Gordon and Janet soon!

Hey rail I have watched the construction on I45 over the past few years, 20 more like it, they have been laying a base and then putting asphalt over it then a foot or so of concrete. I have asked and been told that the asphalt is put down so the machine that puts down the concrete has a smooth surface to work with allowing a smoother result in the concrete....Much easier to drive on...

Good morning!
44° this morning, rain expected.
Tim thanks for the pictures. It looks nice. Deb and I have both recently been told to loose weight by the doctor recently,,,, so we intend to walk and bike a lot the next 2 3 months.
We leave Sunday morning,,,, but taking our time with 3-4 sight seeing events along the way won't be to Yuma till the 28th.
They are using the same construction method here. If the road was concrete,,,, they have a giant machine that breaks it up into essentially gravel, then they grade and roll that as a base. Then blacktop onto of it, then very thick concrete. They mix the concrete right on site with a portable plant. The completed roads are very nice to drive on.
Getting close to ready to leave. Been working on the trailer, bearings, tiedowns for the bicycles, etc.. First time we have ever been away for so long, lots to do closing down the house for 3 plus months.
Frank, glad the heat pumps are getting it done!
Have a great day all! Tim, see you soon!

Good Morning,
Coffee is good this am with it being 29* and partly sunny. Whew, heat wave!
Wind last night was very bad. Thought we were going to loose the roof. Haven't been out yet but there will be damage and trees down. We have lost so many trees the last few years due to winds that you would think there weren't any left.
I wonder when Bap started this thread if he thought about how popular it would be. Thanks Bap for starting it.
Our shooting chapter is full. Happened very fast since meeting was only Sunday. We are now starting a list for bringing others in when these ladies are trained and able to work on some things without constant guidance. Mostly novices so we are starting from the beginning.
Ruger (our cat) has finally stopped sleeping so much and acting more like a cat. He is actually getting some of the muscle back that he lost from starvation. He's got a good personality. Been abused and still is loving. He gets lot's of that around here.
Less than a year now for retirement. I try not to get to excited but it is difficult. Friend I work with is done this Friday. She is such a sweetheart and I am glad for her.
Hope all are doing well. Take care, Lynne

Coffee good, prayer to coffee god cloudy weather and 49 degrees make for great AZ sunrises!!!
Good to hear that it is cold back in SC..... hopefully my propane stock price will rise again to what it was a few years ago. the good news is that it is still paying the exact same dividends or profits depending on what one wishes to call them.... Go FG and Suburban!!!! yes, keep warm, use that gas!!!!

MK, when i worked in the road construction industry for 14 years, we built many roads, out of concrete and asphalt, and all of the machines that laid the concrete ran off of a string line, that was set, leveled by a transit, pulled very tight, the stakes were drove into the ground/base. They did not run off of the base for the level/slope of the road! The machines that leveled and compacted the base, and cut the stabilized ground for the concrete or asphalt to be laid on also ran off of the same string line! The concrete that was hauled from the batch plant to the job site was hauled in tandem dump trucks, and dumped into a conveyor that was next to the laying machine, and the conveyor took the concrete over the string line, and dumped it into the paving machine! The trucks did not drive onto the stabilized base to dump their load! These types of road construction were for the Interstates and main roads, like Brush College Rd. For driveway's and city roads that were made out of asphalt, they ran the paver on a skid or shoe, that ran on the base in front of the paver!
I got out of this kind of work way back in the early 2000's, so 15/16 years ago! So things surely have changed in the last 15/16 years i'm sure! But i am guessing if you look closely, you will see the string line on both sides of the road that they are working on, that the machine is running off of! Rail!
PS, if you look at the second and the fourth pic that Tim posted with the worker walking along the side of the fresh laid concrete, you can see the stake, and the string line! Pow!

Goooooood Morning!!!
Beautiful but cold day today. Coffee is amazing!!!
FINALLY got everything fixed and ready except final trailer loading done, including repairing the PACbrake which now works like a charm (wonder what that would have cost at the shop?) Once I finish loading wil hit the scales and make sure all is well, then I will get a good night sleep and sneak out of town on the back roads tomorrow morning.
Night before last the water heater sprung a leak in the 6yr old S&B. Spent several hours yesterday finding out warranty expired 5 mo ago and tracking down a replacement unit I could get same day. Picked up an new unit at HD (who wanted another $650 to swap/install new unit. Took me an hour including dropping old one at recycle center). Just glad it happened before I left.
The Honda started acting up too so now it's going to DAV as a donation and DW is getting a replacement car. She drove the HRV (too tin can shes says) and the Kia Sportage (she liked the SX model) yesterday. She is going to try a Forester (the one I hope she picks because it will flat tow) today. Salesmen at both places ticked her off because they kept selling to me despite the fact I kept saying it's her car, her decision.
All the delays have worked out in my favor as there is a nice good weather window for my trip . The good Lord has been looking after me no doubt.
Next post will be at my first stop on the trip. If I can get on a wifi will post pics along the way both here and on our FB page, otherwise will post them when I arrive in OK.
Blessings on you all my friends. Be safe and be well.

Have had the same thing happen to DW and me when car shopping here. Some salesguys just don't get it. Well, they don't get the sale either. And, they probably don't really know why. Who is training these people???
Safe travels to all on the road. Happy Thursday to our fellow still-working friends. The weekend is almost here?
Later...
