Good morning all!

Thanks for the heads up Gordon!!!!! LOL

Frank, that is cool. I am sure they will enjoy that. They get truck and trailer package? Awesome!

Barrett sorry to hear you are giving up RV'ing. Hope the DW gets better and you can get back into it some day. Take care.

A bunch a small stuff planned today, go get tires for my small trailer, working on reservations for the 4th, and getting some summer grass ordered for our bare spots in the lawn.

Have a great day all!

Gordon I thought it was just a Canadian thing, like Thanksgiving.

Measure for counter-tops on house this afternoon. Hang one or two sliding doors today. And maybe hang a ceiling fan in kitchen too.

Today one year ago is when I picked up Emmett from the rescue place. Sure miss that little troublemaker.

Time to get on with the day. Safe travels everyone. And stay well.

Good Morning;
We are still praying for Emmett's safe return. Yes we are pretty lucky with Thanksgiving. We celebrate at home with family and friends, and then a month later do it again with our RV family and friends. Double turkey, I'm in heaven!

Raining here for a couple days now. We are approaching 2" so it is a good start. Some puddles on the driveway but the garden is still soaking it in. Supposed to rain till noon.

Yesterday was pretty laid back. I spent most of the day reading and generally relaxing. Today will be much the same but I do have a few things on the to do list. Love it when a plan comes together.

Have a wonderful day.

Curtis, how is your hand? I have a Honda XR650L, that I have made into a adventure bike. Around these parts the name Adventure bike seems to apply to the bigger bikes with dual capability. Mine is not so great on the road, however excells on the dirt. I added hard bags, GPS, driving lights, a luggage rack, etc..

L.
Those Adventure/ Discovery Rides are always a blast when you are with a bunch of riders who aren't trying to play Ricky Racer and ride so fast you don't have time to take in the scenery. A 650 is a great size for an adventure bike. Many serious ADV Riders are scaling down and the 650's are considered the big boys for the job. Most of the Posers, with the Ewen McGregor & Charlie Boreman complex, are riding the big 1200cc machines.
My favorite ride is a 685 cc machine.

A working Gris Mill would be a nice thing to stop and explore.

Here's my ADV bike with the most miles on it.
A 100,000+ mile 06 KLR! I designed and built the crash bars and rack systems for it and the Big Yamaha.

All my ADV Pictures are on my other computer.

Well, about my hand. One of the bones is healing just fine. (Then inner one) and little finger bone has popped twice now and had to be reset. Not real painful, but get to endure a constant sensitivity with it. Which really cramps my style. Typing is the worse thing to do with it. I keep a brace on it as much as possible, but may need to buy a second brace to wear in the shop. (I fractured both bones, the pinky and the one next to it, in the palm behind the big knuckles of the fingers on my left hand. ) Swell up every time I forget about it and try to use those 2 fingers to pick something up.
But all this is minor compared to what some of you guys are dealing with. And certainly no big deal compared to my last Summer. It sure cut down my dirt bike riding for sure. Looked at buying a big scooter this weekend for the automatic transmission. At least that would give me something to ride without straining my hand while it heals. Then I sell it after Summer is over. Or teach Princess how to ride it.

Lloyd,
Yes they get the truck & trailer package. I would rather give it to them and know that they will enjoy it rather than sell it to someone at a cut rate price.
Rail,
We are going to stop in Joliet at the casino campground on the 20th for an overnight stay, then going across 80 to 29 and up to souix falls. Then across 90 to 16 if you want to meet up on the way.
Have a great day all,
Frank

Frank, that sounds good, meeting up along the way! What is your next stop, after Joliet? We will be picking up I-80 at the Quad City's, and could meet up at your next stop!

I looked at Google Maps, and cutting N. at Iowa City, is 30/40 miles shorter, and the way I used to run in the semi all the time. A lot less traffic, better scenery, and still all 4 lane. And we can honk at WD when we go by his spread!
I-80 to I-380 to 20 West to 27 North/218 N. follow 18 to I-35 N. to I-90 West

You bypass Waterloo by taking 20 W. 4 exits, follow the signs for 218 N./27 N. and at Floyd, you follow 18/27 West, to I-35 N.
There is a very nice, secluded, CG, just north of Cedar Rapids, Pleasant Creek St. Rec. Area! We stayed there before, and there were only 2 or 3 campers there with us! Nice big pull through sites too!

And since the air fares are so high right now, we have decided to use our points/miles and fly free to Zurich, Sw. on Thai Airways, and stay for a week or so, then fly with Swiss Air from Zurich to Chicago non-stop for the same money/less money than the flight alone from BKK to ORD (Chicago) And we get to have a Swiss adventure too!

Everyone have a great day! Rail!

Good Morning,

Sitting in Elkhart, IN this am waiting to have the windshield replaced on Miss May. Had the Jacks replaced yesterday and it is a nice system. Other jacks were 3000 lbs and these are 8000 lbs each. The rig weighs 17,000 empty.

Niece lives an hour away so is coming up for a visit today. Looking forward to seeing her. Don't see her often. Why do we always get so busy that we let so much time go by without seeing each other?

Charlene was going to try to meet up but the CG won't accommodate things and some of it is pretty flooded so good thing we cancelled her coming. Darn it, it would have been nice to meet. We'll get it done eventually though.

Ron, I think often about Emmett and you. Still hoping he will make it home. My cat took 3 months to make it back to Omaha from Sioux City. 2 months the second time.

Frank, tell Rita my left knee is now giving me fits. I don't want to do anything this summer so will work through it but next year I will be heading for another knee surgery. Darn it! Have you guys seen Oreo?

Got to get going and get rig unhooked for them to start. Have a good day. Lynne

By the way, I am now the owner of a White RAD Mini. It has not arrived yet and that was what I was waiting for but I am excited. Those bikes are selling out in 3 minutes when they have them back in stock.

You can combine the pink painting plan for your new Mini with the stripes on Miss May and have a matched pair.

Good morning all!

Curtis, sorry your hand is giving so much trouble. I've "messed myself up" enough times to know sometimes you just have to not use the broken parts at all,,,, otherwise you keep prolonging the process and in the end it takes longer. I love my XR, have lots of mods, here is a pic. Our ride this weekend was a nice pace. Not too fast, but not boring.

Frank, cool deal on giving them the rig. I agree, give it to them rather than give it away to a stranger.

Lynne, those jacks sound like they will certainly get the job done. Good luck with the windshield install today. Thanks for the chat about the ebike crazy order process last night. Deb and I are still giving it some thought. Big decision as we would want 2. We do think we would also go with the Mini.

Lite rain here this am, only 80 for a high. Nice welcome change for a day. The kids are at their build site, burning the latest burn pile of construction debrie.

Have a great day all!

L.

Good Morning Everyone;
We got 2" of rain in the last storm. Now we have some wind for the day which is supposed to bring in some more rain. Bit more rain would be good but we now need some heat for the garden to grow.

Heat will also make the grass grow but I sharpened the blades on the mower last week so I would be ready.

Lynne - Congratulations on the Rad. Ron has a great idea about pin striping. Perhaps Honda Red could be considered. That may be enough to tip Terry into considering some HR in one of his units!!! LOL

May want to consider having a surgeon in Yuma take a look at your knee. There are some really good surgeons there. Several friends have had theirs done and Larry (friend of Lloyd and Debbie) is scheduled to have his done there this winter. Just something to consider.

The jacks sound awesome. They should make Miss May as steady as all getout.

Curtis - you may want to consider a Burgman. Several fellows I know ride them and they say the 650 goes like a banshee. We have ridden with them in the group and they have no issues keeping up. The cockpit is very protected and the storage under the seat is huge. Tough to find used ones up here as they are in high demand. May be better for you in the States.

Hope everyone has safe travels and a great day.

Good Morning Gang,
Dry here for a couple days now, but hot and humid. Went to the pool after dinner yesterday and stayed almost 2 hours, it was soooooo nice.
Lynne,
Sorry about your knee. Hope that it doesn't bother you too much. Oreo is still around, I see him about once a week or so.
Rail,
I am open to going that way, let me know where a good place to meet up would be. I haven't been west of Amana Colonies, so it is all new to me. I don't like to drive much over 6 or 7 hours a day which is usually under 400 miles.320 to 350 is better.

Frank

[QUOTE=Gordon Dewald;4233638]Good Morning Everyone;
Happy Fathers Day.

Barrett. Sorry you have decided to give up the MH. Hope Ruby finds a home that will give her as much love as you have."

Thank you Gordon! I've enjoyed working on her this past year.
I am confident I won't get out what I've put in her but I know she'll give others much joy. Regards!

Both Windshields Replaced!

Yep, both windshields!

So, we came down to have the driver's side windshield replaced due to a stone chip and crack. They were supposed to start at 8:30 or so and at 10am we went inside to find out what was going on. They came and got the rig and we went to breakfast.

I am a firm believer that things happen for a reason. Today this rings very true.

So, they were removing the driver's side when the passenger side fractured. I had been upset that we had the driver's side window crack and had to replace it since we had done so 2 yrs ago.

When they removed it they found a bit of rust around the window frame. Just surface rust at this point but rust none the less. The guy cleaned it up, sanded and painted with a corrosive prohibitor, let it dry, and then reinstalled both windshields.

Process was over 5 hours for a 1 hour job. The insurance company paid for the second windshield as well as the first one. The RV repair place felt bad and did NOT charge me for the rust removal and paint they put on. Also did not charge me the second $100. deductible. I offered to pay for it since they did such a great job but they said no. OK, fine by me.

George, the windshield guy, sealed the top of the window gasket because he said this is where the rain was coming in and it would do so again. I bought a tube of the caulk that he used because he said it is great! Got some sealing to do around the windows. He also gave me a tool to do the job with and some good advice.

Altogether, I think we came out on the right end of this stick. Had the passenger side windshield not fractured, we would never have known about the rust until it was too late to fix it as easily as they did. Thank you George!

Here are some pictures. Lynne
