Hi.. I am a new member

Hi everyone. I am a new member and looking for some help.

I have a 1977 Sportscoach on a P30 Chassis 454 Chev motor.
I had my motor rebuilt and they lost my dipstick. I have the dipstick tube. I am trying to find a dipstick. I need to know the exact length of the dipstick. Better yet if anyone knows where I can get a replacement dipstick it would be a great help

Try napa

If you have the tube then look to see wher it enters the pan.

Guess how much longer or measure to bottom.

You may be able to get something from napa that fits and is long enough.

Ignore the markings.

Perform oil change but fill one qt SHORT.

If it requires 6 install 5.

Start it up to fill filter then shut off and wait a couple minutes.

Pull stick and mark oil level as the add 1 qt point.

Add last qt wait for it to drain and repeat.

Cut off excess.

Dipstick

You might be able to find the dipstick at this website. They rebuild engines and probably will be able to tell you the length and which one you need if they don't already have one.
Good Luck!

I have a 82 PA P30 454 with the L O N G dip stick, if you want I can measure it if need be, shes sitting in the driveway waiting to go somewhere
Does yours or "did yours" go back in hard about 1/2 way? I have to use both hands to get it back in or it will kink.
Let me know if you still need the measurement.
(not sure if they will be close though)

When I replaced my engine I just bought a short dipstick and tube from a performance shop. I check and fill the oil from inside the vehicle. Since you need to check your trans fluid as well, which requires removing the hatch anyway, you don't gain much from having the dipstick go through to the front of the coach.

Thanks for the reply. Yes mind was hard to feed in. Not sure if yours would be the same length.
