Where approximately do you have it located? Perhaps you could meet with someone who can show you or hire an mobile RV repair person for an hour to show you where things are and how they work. I'm 68 and have messed with cars, boats, and motorcycles all my life and believe me, it really helped when someone showed me how everything works. It's not all intuitive or self explanatory!

No idea about your Rockwood but mine with a generac np54g is not mounted in a drawer it's a tray that is bolted to the frame and there is a big warning that it will drop and possibly cause serious injury if you mess with the bolts. To work on it it needs to be supported and then lowered .

The dipstick is probably located behind the rubber dam to the left of the radiator. As far as the generator is concerned it probably does not have a sliding rail on it. If is like mine I had to build a box to slide it on after I unbolted it. You may have to unbolt the muffler, disconnect the fuel line and the electrical line before you can get it all of the way out.

LaurieSue,

My current MH is an 88 Fleetwood Southwind, but the previous was a 1985 Rockwood Class C.

Where are you (what state) and what model Rockwood are you speaking of?

Mine too did not have the generator on a slide, but rather in the compartment, and needed to be supported to remove it as others have stated...

On our 87 Rockwood Class A the engine oil dip stick is located next to the oil fill cap, under the "hood" to the far left just above the radiator support. The tranny dip stick is under the dog house. I made a slide for our generator as the original did not have one.

I'm in California northern, red bluff to be exact near redding. My generator slides about halfway out then sticks. I think it must be out of alignment. Can't get it started yet probably have to have alot of gas in the tank I've heard it won't start so as to sAve gas for motorhome to get to gas station. So without full power the ac won't work. I need to find out of these things are working if I sell. I'm starting to fall in love with it the more I work on it the more I want to drive off into the sunset with it.

If the generator is Onan, the point contacts need to be clean and the gap is critical, as this affects the timing....

Mines a Onan, which is now cummins/Onan. Its a 82 PA 454, Genny slides out after the 2 bolts are removed. Someone installed a junction box that you need to get the genny by. Make sure you have a good length on the electric wires that will slide out also. As OP say remove the gas line and you will have to take the muffler off to get the genie tray to completely pull/slide out. Mine only pulls out so far and it stops. I used NO supports.
My issue turned out to be the Choke. It is electric and heats up a coil that warms the carburetor/ butterfly. I replaced it and still had a problem. I took it into a cummins/Onan repair shop and they got it to work, except it still doesn't.

I have to open the panel and hold the choke needle to off to on till she smooth's out, (not even a minute) they told me that's how it works,

I have to disagree, kind of hard to reach the needle from the drivers seat while starting with the dash button!!!! But she runs like a top after it warms up,
Mine has just over 300 hours, not even broke in yet.
Good luck
Tell us what you find out.
Tim
