Hood Rod Retaining Clamp

Looking for a replacement for a simple plastic retaining clamp for the hood prop rod under the hood of my 1997 Newmar Kountry Star. Can't find anything, even on Amazon or CampingWorld. Anyone found one of these?

Thanks, Jay

What's the diameter of the prop rod? How does the clamp fasten to it's anchor point? In it's stowed position, could the rod be held in place by a hooked piece of flat aluminum or does it need to clamp it?

That's a tough one to find, all the hood prop clips seem to be press fit in a square or round hole in sheet metal. Since yours is screwed into fiberglass, I'd fabricate my own out of aluminum or plastic, even wood. Instead of a clip, perhaps a hanger that the rod would rest in when not in use. Have you contacted Newmar and ask if they can help?

You might search the aisles of hardware stores and the like, looking for something you could adapt into a rod holder.

Good luck and show us your solution when you solve the problem.

Found calling Newmar for parts this old hasn't in the past been very successful. Fabricating/modifying is probably best option. Might have to go with a temp fix till Spring.

Yea, that looks very close. Will continue to look. In the mean time, it's hidden anyway and might modify a flat J hook to hold it. Thanks for taking the time to help me out.

I go to RV surplus sites, ebay sites, and all kinds of places. I found new latches for all my cabinets, latches for a couple of bay doors. Found a place for a replacement diesel tank cap and all kinds of stuff online. On the latches, I bought them all as I knew I would never find them again, found 2 replacement lights for the bedroom.

In the bathroom, the original light bar above the medicine cabinet was so tarnished it was awful, I kept searching and found the exact replacement same with our microwave/convection oven. Just keep hunting, bet you will find it somewhere, there's a wealth of sites out there.

Maybe try Colaws, they are a salvage yard, there is one in Kentucky too, can't think of the name of it. I even found a new lighted grab bar for the outside that said American Eagle!! Just be persistent.

Mine is a 92 Eagle, sometimes Fleetwood has parts.
