Hot water heater solinoid help
I hooked my gas up today and discovered a leak in the Hot Water Solinoid (I think that is what it's called) My local parts man at "Bubba's Bait Shop and RV Repair" said the solinoid is no longer availabe, but he (Bubba) was willing to make me a good deal on a new Hot Water Heater.
Any suggstions on where I might look? -- The hot water heater is a 6 gal Suburan and the solinoid is a Johnson Controls G54BLF-4.
Any help will be greatly appreciates.

Solenoid???? Are you talking about a gas-flow solenoid?
What model Suburban heater do you have? pplmotorhomes has just about any parts you may need. Easy enough to replace yourself.
If this is a gas part, call your local propane dealer/tech.

Chief, I determined the part I needed is no longer available, so I ordered a new water heater. I guess bubba, at Bubba's Bait Shop and RV repair was giving me correct info But, thanks for the reply

Did the gas valve you needed look like either the DSI 161109 model or the Pilot 161111 model on this page?

Dave, those are the newer style valves. In fact, one of them looks like the one on the new water heater I am installing

Select: InvalidBrowser (RV Parts website; NOt sure why it says invalid Browser)
Choose category Water Heater
Select suburban
Scroll to and expand VFDSI-6 (DSI model)
Select drawing
click on Item #12
gives you a replacement valve of Johnson 520735
520735 gas valve - Google Search

The newer solenoids have a dual shutoff for safety and regulator to supply pressure at 10.5wc. If it fits, it would work.

Thanks again Dave78Chief. Now I get to see if buying a hundred dollar part for a water heater that was made in 1992 (20 years) ago is the right plan. Or buying a new one for about three hundred bucks. And I am always amazed how you and others can find something on the net and when I look I get notices of skydiving in Nevada or growing mushrooms to feed the emus in the back yard??? i am not called analog for nothing.
