I have been thinking about getting a vintage tt do you have much trouble getting in rv parks when you tell them you have a fifty year old tt and am I right to assume you can buy a restore unit cheaper than you can restore yourself I like the old Spartans thanks ken

I have had only one RV park turn my class A away because it was older than ten years, and that was just north of Houston, Tx. That CG was not special in any way. No amenities of any sort except a small "clubhouse."

I have noticed since, that a few CG's in the books "restrict" their precious real estate to RV's of a certain age and newer. Pity for them.

I cleaned up and waxed her and shined her up so far no rejection's. I made reservations at a place in Az for the winter and they asked for pictures

I sent them some and got approval. Take pride in your vintage TT, MH or what ever it pays in the end.

We've adopted don't ask don't tell. We don't volunteer the age of our Class A. We keep our site clean & clean up after my service dog. So far, haven't been turned away anywhere. Too bad for them if they do. I tend to let others know & places generally know word of mouth is the best advertising -- both good & bad.

My basic feeling is that if the park won't accept some one because of the age of their unit then you are better off staying somewhere else.
I prefer older units and if a park is too "special" for them then I don't and wouldn't want to be there.
If you are somehow looked upon better because you have a newer RV what does that say about those parks. Personally I am able to purchase any RV I want but I prefer "old school" and the company of these like minded people.
Lastly, what is wrong with Ma & Pa Kettle. These people usually have the best stories and the most interesting lives to share with others. More interesting than those who have, and buy and show off to validate themselves.

If it looks good, I would think they would very seldom turn one down for age. The key is how the RV looks (clean and shiny).

Firstly, the parks with age restrictions are still relatively rare, in terms of numbers and percentages. Second, most restrictive parks will welcome a vintage rig that is well cared for and presents well, many will even welcome it as an "attraction". The posted policy gives them the option of turning away the rig held together with baling wire and duck tape, leaking more oil than it burns gasoline.

My wife and I are new to the RV life style. We purchase a 1988 Fleetwood Jamboree not knowing about the age restriction placed on RV's. It is old, but we cleaned up our RV, and I would have to say for almost a thirty year old vehicle it looks pretty good. When we called to make RSVP'S, we were informed of the age restriction. We were asked to sent in photos, got approved right away. Funny thing is that our vintage RV was liked so much that we were welcomed to come back any time. As long as your RV is cleaned and in good operation you are in.

I would think it would be similar to the oldest house in the neighborhood. If it is well maintained it looks great! If not, it looks bad. No one wants to live next to a dump and if a cg wants to keep you out because it is vintage then who wants to stay there?

The Islander in Havasu will only want 10 year or newer in there park but have not tried sending in a photo to see if they would allow me in there.
Nice park have stayed there with a friend to fish striper derby,s plus they have there own lauch ramp....

In 2000, I bought a new E350 EXT V10, and put a high top on it and build the inside into a class B, now it has 300K miles, but it looks and runs great, and still gets 11 to 17 MPG. In the last 14 yrs, we never stayed in an RV park, stayed at several state parks, forest service areas, and the like, and of course WalMarts. Now we need more room, so it's class A time, and we are looking at a much older MH, or I will convert a large step van into an RV. We never gave it a thought that RV parks were so picky. I'm not sure we would ever need to stay at an RV park. Since we have no idea about RV parks, maybe some one could fill us in? Why do people stay in RV parks? For how long do you stay? What is the attraction? Thanks Gus

Convenience sometimes, facilities sometimes. It was nice to have power, water, sewer, and wifi right at your spot. BUT, now that campgrounds cost MORE than motels, they ain't so pretty any more.

re age: if you've just got into town after a thousand mile trip, the RV and trailer are gonna be dirty, no matter what. Houston does not have very many RV parks for such a large city and none are convenient to MD Anderson.
