Finally found one that I can afford, just need to make sure I can pull it. It's a 1990 Terry Reserve 17 foot travel trailer. The ad listed the weight at 2550 which is well below my 3500 max. Can't seem to find a reference to make sure that this is correct and to check the hitch weight. My limit is 350. I'm driving over this evening to get her if the weight is ok. Help!

If you can't get to the scales, all I could suggest is to look on the driver's side of the RV somewhere toward the front for the manufacturer's VIN tag. The GVWR of the trailer should be shown there - use that for the maximum total loaded weight of the trailer that your tow vehicle will have to handle. Use 12% of the GVWR for your loaded hitch weight.

JM2CW - ultimately, the scales will tell the tale.

What is your TV? You don't want to have your weight to the limit. Your GVWR only includes a tank of gas and you as the driver (150 lbs). Anything else you pack reduces your gross weight. So if your TV is 3500lbs if the listed weight is 2500lbs ( I'll bet that is the dry weight) you may be at your limit. JMHO.

When I had a TT we made the mistake of underestimating the towing capacity of it and we were limited on where we could go. Sold the TT and bought a MH. No limits (except fuel)
