I everyone.. I've got a 1964 Ander-ett 16ft travel trailer. Built in East Tawas MI. Sold in Flint MI. (it still has the dealers tag). It's the classic layout with the dinette in front and the bed/couch in back.
This is the story on how my TT came to be parked in the back yard.
My DW and I were looking to buy a trailer for sometime but we just didn't have the money for a new trailer. I should say we were looking for a smaller TT, 20' or there abouts. Knowing that the money was not going to happen I said we should look at buying an older TT. Now I'm thinking mid 80's to early 90's. Well my DW knowing me all to well, everything I have has started out with rust on it.
She's thinking I mean Vintage, I guess.
So one day I get this phone call at work.. "Honey I bought a trailer." "You what?" I said.
She comes back with, "I bought an old trailer from mister so and so from church."
Now this is the day before bow season in Michigan. A hunters delight, this little trailer.
I'm still on the phone. "Okay, how much did you pay for it?" I'm scard now. 800 bucks she says.
Oh my goosh, what did she do, I'm thinking.
Well I go to look at it and turns out it ain't that bad.
Once I get pass the brown paint and the black elephants paint on it. Very nice on the inside and luky me NO WATER DAMAGE
Well lots of elbow grease and paint we got a pretty nice trailer.
We have upgraded allot of stuff too. Like tail lights, outside wiring, Maxair vent, new valves for the 40# tanks, 15" wheels and tires, AC, microwave, refrigerator, foam for bed and dinette, she sewed covers for them and curtains too, paint inside and out.
This summer looking to add a grey water tank, 6 gallon water heater, breaker box and 12 volt system for sport.
I guess she did okay.
I think I'll keeper, and the wife too.
I've got some pictures of it on here too. A couple of our '60 Chevy mild custom. We've kicked around the idea of setting it up to pull the trailer. It's just right now it's still allot of fun with it on the ground.
