Do all manufactures use the same method of measuring or is whatever they want to call it?
F-I-L bought a 1975 Winnebago Brave and its body measured in at 19 feet from the front to the back. That was without the bumpers. The next year Winnebago started measuring them from bumper to bumper and became the 22 ft for the same layout.

Overall, our TT is 29 feet 8 inches.
That's not a bumper to bumper measurement. It is bumper to ball center as the TT does not have a front bumper...

My Residency is a model 3790, and according to my tape measure, it is
37' 9" long, bumper to bumper, not counting the roof ladder.

Even my 20' enclosed is measured goofy. 20' to where it curves in at the front.

As you can tell by all the answers, every manuf. comes up with his own way. On a motorhome, the most standard way is outside longest point in front to longest point in back. I helped a friend at the Atlanta RV show and one TT manuf. called his length the size of the shell.

I sure wish someone could tell me how the mounties measure them. That is really what counts if facing litigation. Guess I will drive to the CHP office tomorrow and try to get some real paperwork on it.

Good Question

Thats a good question!! Some Mfg's will post overall length, some what they consider to be "living space" and others will abbreviate the square footage..i.e. a model 2905 means 290 square feet but it could be 32-35 feet in length.....The only way to get true overall length is if it is published or to measure it yourself

Ok, prove it. The mfgr shows the overall length of 41.5 feet. That is what I measure from the front edge of the fiberglass cap to the rear cap.

Heading to the CHP office this am. Maybe I can talk to a commercial officer.
