Dave, Is the glass on your "85" flat or curved?
The glass on my "83" is flat and rather inexpensive...On the "87" winnie now that curved critter wasn't cheap..

My 93 has a curved too and I was told $2800 just for the glass. I found one place that told me $1600 but that was for a used one.... Don't need one yet and god willing i never will but i made sure i had no detuctable on glass coverage on my insurance!

Thanks Dave for that info....
As the box makers continue to add on more & more expensive items for cosmetic reasons the price continues the upward spiral which is killing them off one by one.....

Just had my one piece windshield replaced due to a rock chip that spread upward. Cost was a little over $2000,ouch glad I had insurance.

A thousand bucks to repair a small dent and replace the rear glass after the missus jack knifed our fiver. We don't dare be without glass insurance here especially during winter. Rock chips, not sand, are used on the highways.

I carry 0-deductible on all our stuff - costs very little more than the partial deductible, and with our winter graveled roads, glass replacement is not an "if", just a "when" - I have various chips and cracks on both my truck and wife's car, both will need replacing soon. The passenger side windshield on our Winnie was cracked when we were looking to buy it - seller offered to have it replaced on his insurance if we would pay the $200 deductible - it too is curved glass. We went ahead and bought the MH after the glass was replaced, since our own insurance would not have done it...

The shop that replaced the glass, said it looked like it had got hot, like near a fire but I see no other damage?

Ours had been broken when the previous owner had squirted cold water on the windshield to wash it on a hot day - immediate broken glass...

Tell me about it. I used to keep a huge piece of the silver stuff inside my windshield and one hot Florida day I decided to wash it and as soon as the water hit it , the windshield split from top to bottom.
