how to fix driver door inside mechanism...
88 allegro 31 fter, a ford on a deere chassis. have broken outside door handle on driver's door. also, window creaks like an old staircase when winding it back up, so probably needs some servicing too. problem is, i don't know how to get into the door innerds.
on cars, you usually have screws in the ashtray or something that you remove first, then the door trim is held on by push-pins and pops off easily. not here.
i removed the window crank, the trim plate around the inside handle, and the ashtray, and tried prying the door trim at various points with a screwdriver, looking for some give. none. looks and feels smack tight to the frame as if it were either glued to the frame or screwed to it every 2 inches from inside. i just don't see how to remove the door panel/trim to expose the door's guts.
sure hope there's a body tech familiar with these rigs who can point me in the right direction!
