How to remove corner molding - Chieftain

We are replacing the carpet in our 86 chieftain and I am pulling the floor cupboards.

There is some corner molding on the outside edges that I am trying to remove and can't seem to get it.

Anyone done this and can pass on the how to?

it looks like the plastic 1/2 round has a T shape with the bottom of the T going into a piece of aluminum that is used to hold the 2 pieces together.

I've read this a dozen times ans can't visualize it. Maybe if you post a photo someone will comment?

Hmm... I've never seen that kind of trim, but it sounds like the plastic is pushed into an aluminum strip that has teeth to grip the plastic. Which of course means you'll probably ruin one or both by pulling it out, but it might be the only way. Maybe you should scout around for replacement trim in case it's needed.
