I got gas !!!
According to my new propane detector, I have gas in the MH. I am convienced there is not a leak. It goes off even if the gas is shut off at the tank. What are the odds of the new detector being bad?

Also, have you done any painting or used adhesives in the RV. Sometimes they will trip a propane detector.

It is "hardwired" to a DC supply (house battery) and the voltage is good. I haven't painted or glued anything in almost 2 weeks -- and have aired it out.

LP and other similiar detectors should usually be replaced at around 5 yrs old. I believe some smoke detectors are rated for 10 yrs.

Just a side note, I doubt it applies here, bug repellent will send an LP detector into fits as well.

Spilled beer did it to us a few years ago. And I have to replace a detector which was around a year old about the same time.

Try changing the battery in your smoke detector. I know it sounds weird but some early units had the smoke detector and gas leak detector hooked together

Sounds like an old detector going bad. Common sense tells you that if you shut off the gas and still get a warning, something ain't right. Of course the tank could have a pin hole,but you should be able to smell that.
