I Need a Cruise Control!

Hello everyone...I've been a frequent visitor to this forum, but this is my first post. I have a 1989 35ft Alumilite Class A Motorhome with a 454 Chevy engine and a three speed automatic transmission. The cruise control wasn't working when I bought it a year ago, and I'm looking to replace it. The one I have now is on the column, and it controls the turn signals, wipers, high/low beam, etc. I had it looked at, and the mechanic has traced the problem to a "dump valve" that can no longer be found anywhere. So, I'm looking for a replacement cruise control. It doesn't have to be mounted on the column or control anything but the speed. Something in dash or mounted somewhere else would be fine. I can't find a part like that either. Junk yards won't help, NAPA, JC Whitney, National, and various other auto parts stores don't have a part that will work. Does anyone have a solution for me? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Here's a link to a universal electronic cruise unit: http://www.bought4less.com/bought4le...0a21636-p.html

This is just the cruise control, you may be used with your existing controller on the column. Call or email them to get more info.

Does it look something like this?

Then JC Whitney does have them.. so does NAPA.. Just take your part in and tell them to look up a part from something else, like a '88-'89 HD3500 truck..

GM cruise controls were made by a company called DANA, last I heard they had sold out to Rockwell. You do not need to replace the collum switch at all since the tech found the dump valve is the problem.. The dump valve itself is likely a hen's tooth (hard to find/unobtainum) but the entire unit.. (he remote or slave unit) fairly easy to find. This is quite likely a standard GM part. Oh.. Sears sold it too.

If you decide to go with something new:
Universal Cruise Control by Rostra

audiovox cruise control | eBay

I have been using the older Audiovox CCS-100 vacume based system on a 94 Honda Civic for several years. Works great.

You might want to try contacting Cardone http://www.cardone.com to see if they can rebuild yours.
