ID Help

Good afternoon good people of IRV2,

I need a bit of assistance identifying my new project. Here's what I know, it was registered in the state of Alabama as a 1971 FLET TTL (I'm assuming fleetwood travel trailer). No Vin, just and identifying serial number that was listed in the door that turned up very little information. No title, no problem as this is Alabama and I have already registered it (for the whopping price of $17). However, I would like to get any information possible because once I know what it is I am working with I am going to obsessively seek out pictures of one in pristine condition to know what I am up against.

It's 15 feet tongue to tail and the actual camper measures 12'4X7'8.

Often a serial number is stamped on the trailer tongue arms that come together at the ball socket. You may have to scrape the old paint to find it, but that's where it is usually located.

I'll check for the serial number later today when I go work on it.

Do not burn a lot of time looking for a modern 17 character VIN. Vehicles built prior to 1980 do not necessarily have them. Many manufactures used only a sequential number that can be anything.

New information! As I was ripping the ol biddy apart I found some sharpie writing!

It's a Fleetwing not a Fleetwood. Serial is 0313866. I'd love any information anyone can track down. I've tried.

It lists different dimensions than I measured at 207"X83" (again found written on the walls). That would make it a 17 foot trailer.

Can't find any pictures other than of the 14" model.

Here's a link with a little history of the brand:

fleetwing [Tin Can Tourists Wiki]

Google has lots of links of folks restoring and loving these trailers. The above link mentions more than 35,000 units produced!
