One thing that will help pull the smoke is to set out several shallow pans/bowls of plain cleaning ammonia for several days ...no A/C. The other issue will be the A/C coated with the smoke film. You will probably need to take the air side apart and clean it to get the smell out. There are several industrial strength deodorizers that can be sprayed inside the unit. I believe I still have some at home and you are welcome to try it. I'll see if I still have it.
The carpet will also be saturated with the smell as well as curtains. Sometimes cleaning the carpet will work. The curtains may be able to be washed.
As for cleaning the inside (woodwork and paneling) try Murphy's Oil Soap. You will be surprised at the amount of residue coating the interior.
Looks like you have a major cleaning project ahead of you, but it will be well worth it.
