I just bought a 1971 Kayot Motorhome, 26ft with 318 v8 and dont have any specs for it. Odometer states 60054mi.. I just drove it 120mi home 7 days ago from ohio to Indiana and it drove fine, although it had low oil pressure and the rear main seal was leaking bad. I went ahead and replaced the rear main seal, the oil pump, and the oil sending unit and everything is well. Now, the water pump is dripping/leaking at the seal. I am unsure what kind I should purchase for it. Is it the same as a regular 1971 318 v8 truck/van engine? It looks to be original. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Congrats on the purchase . Finally another Kayot owner . I think I saw all of the info on ebay . Checkout my rebuild thread on my 71 Kayot. The motor should be the same as any other dodge 318 made around that time . Should be fairly easy to work on or replace . Mine is a 24ft with a chrysler 413 .

Ok, Strange name...Any resemblances to the same family in the "The Griswalds Family Christmas"??? Anyway welcome to the forum and a answer would be the same as vans and trucks!! This should be fun watching you and Forcedfab do both coaches at the same time!! Enjoy and look froward to your adventures,

congrats on the new to you rig. Hope all goes well on the build. a 318 is a 318. so the truck parts should work fine. I would look up parts for it based on a truck due to the frame and oil pan. I have to do some tune up work on mine witch is a 360 and I have been buying parts for it like it was a regular van. if you need any help post it up there are plenty of folks here with the know how to get you in the right direction.

Good luck and look forward to the build pics!
