Have you looked all over the sides for a small plate that may be riveted to the body?

Probably your best bet is to have the DMV run a registration history based on the license plate.

In some states, like Georgia and Rhode Island, a title is not required on a vehicle or trailer that old. Each state has different laws on it.

I wouldn't let anyone get you worried about a title for something that old. I have never heard of a state being that strict about getting a mechanics or rebuilt or a salvage title for something like that. Maybe California would be buggers, wouldn't hurt to check on it soon though. Rebuilt or salvage titles for trailers are handed out by the hundreds, cars trucks and motorhomes are much more complicated. Show the DMV a legit receipt and they will be able to help you out. I doubt that old trailer has a lean on it that would have to be searched out. I had a boat that I bought without a title and, I had a title within 60 days

restoring your RV

Looks like a cute, fun project. I wouldn't worry about keeping it original.Just restore it the way you want it. Make it functional.

I bought a 13' 1988 trailer like that for $250 and rebuilt it then sold it for $4000 in one day on craigslist. There's good money in rebuilt vintage trailers.
