Sometimes it is hard to shut the mind down and sleep, I have those kind of nights often.
Now I have been waking up after 4 or 5 hours of sleep and up the rest of the day.

Yesterday was an avoid working on the coach and toad day. I worked around the farm and took it easy. They hay guy was going to deliver some alfalfa bales, 3' X 3' X 8' late in the afternoon. Weather had a chance of coming in then so I drove thirty miles to his place and picked them up instead. Lucille has this exhaust note at 3000 rpm that's beautiful unless you're inside the truck and then it can be wearing. I got her at seventy miles per hour and set the cruise, 2800 to 3000 rpm and thanked my lucky stars Miss Glenda wasn't with me, the music hurts her head.

I got the hay in the barn and a heckuva storm hit the farm. Rain gauge said a half of an inch but the feeders said it was an inch or more, rain gauge doesn't allow for sideways rain.

Gordon Ron Hall did the cut some carpet and have it bound on the edges for his coach for runners. It worked perfect for him and Miss Glenda has already decided that's what we are going to do too. The storage lid will be covered with the rubber. Previous owner used a rug to cover the lid so it was out of sight storage. I will eventually do hidden lock just because that's one of my things. I get a kick out of locking things up without locks. I had a slide lock that looked like a twist lock on a welding truck in my youth. It was kind of fun to tell someone to get me something out of that bin and they would go over and the handle wouldn't twist, say it was locked. I would walk over and shake my head like they were an idiot and slide the handle and it would open but I would do a little sleight of hand doing it. They would try again to open it and of course couldn't. It's kind of special sickness but I enjoy it.

Today should be about cutting and installing the rubber, should be, we'll see. It's Sunday.

Life with Jane

I have a carpet runner and many throw rugs in my RV. This way if you drag in pebbles and dirt it protects the floor. Look at Walmart ect. to see if you canfind something you like. I found the perfect color to match my interior at Bed Bath and beyond. Something already made up will be cheaper than having the binding done at a shop.

We bought a set of matching rugs last year at Quartzsite. Got a good deal. Ms Prissy has ceramic tile flooring (except bedroom) and it is cold in the am. Our basement is heated, however once up front by the axle forward, its just insulation between you and the great outdoors.

We have been busy with other things. I have got a couple of things done on the Jane and lil Blue but nothing substantial. I did get the wiring all rewrapped and tucked away under the plastic interior panels. Then I did a start up and tried all of the lights and their functions, love it. Last thing tonight I put in the last of the fasteners on the front end and attached the tow bar bracket.

I haven't figured out how I'm or where I'm going to carry the light cord for towing. I really don't want to do a double ended cord because that brings two more opportunities for electrical issues.

I have been doing what I can to avoid working on my knees. The left one is still tender.

Great thread and amazing work! I read all the pages and have gained some great ideas for our current RV project.

Can make a suggestion on this? Have you looked at using a coiled cord for a semi truck/trailer? These cords go hundreds of thousands of trouble free free miles on millions of trucks and they are available at every truck stop in the country. All you would need to do is convert the 7-pin flat to 7 pin round or add another cable or swap one end. Lots of options but for what you are doing that is the way I would go. I liked it so much I converted all of the farm trailers to 7-pin round, helped out in 2 ways, #1 its metal and darn near bullet proof, #2 when someone wants to borrow it they need to ask for the adapter!

Thanks, like the idea. BTW, you think like I do. For many years I used pintle hitches on the heavier trailers so that fewer people could ask to borrow them.

I cut in and dropped into place the rubber mat. I think we got lucky on this one. It isn't glued down yet, thought it would be nice to let is sit in place overnight, relax a bit.

If you look at the second picture of the floor over to the right you can see the 12 volt circuit that was abandoned in place by the manufacturer. The last photo shows a two function set of plugs. One has a power port (cigarette lighter style) and the other has two USB ports. These will be installed in the new desk.

As of right now it looks like the three rocker switch with the two ports, same as above, will fit under the radio and above the a/c vent.

The rubber mat went in fairly easy. There's some adjustments to do take care of before final glue down but they are nothing more than that.

This is the toad tail light set up. Driver's side in the rear of Lil Blue is a compartment. Originally it was about access to the trailer light circuits. What I have now is two female six prong light plugs and one male. The male is attached to the tail lights. One female is to the trailer light cord to the coach. The other female is to the light circuits of Lil Blue. Right now the tail lights work like they should from Lil Blue.

One of the interesting things about this set up is the coach has the separate from the brake light turn signal lights, just like Lil Blue. However, the female plug on the coach is set up so the separate signal lights is joined to the brake lights via an adaptor. I like having that because a lot of trailers don't have the separate turn signal circuits. So what I'm going to do is install another plug on the coach beside the original one that has the separate turn signal circuit, mostly because Lil Blue has that set up.

The colors are coming together. I'll finish the floor tomorrow and then it will tearing apart the dash and installing the EGT gauge and rocker switches etc while the seats are out of the way.

One of the interesting challenges is the threshold piece. All I can find is 3' pieces and I need an 8' piece. I'm thinking the idea of going through my aluminum stock is looking better all the time

Agreed! 👍

We redid the flooring up front in our old bus with leftover engineered hardwood from our house remodel. It looks nice, but since it's real wood, it's pretty soft. Probably not the best choice... I make everyone take their shoes off on the steps... And we all trip over them when we exit. Probably break my ankle someday... 😐

Our interior is in decent shape, but I might like to replace the carpet that we left in the bedroom area in back of the rv. It's still cleans up decent but it's a teal color though. I also left some carpet over the doghouse up front that hides the generator... It would look a lot nicer had I just redone everything like you are doing.

Nice job.

Cheers

Your lips (finger tips) to God's ears. I liked your idea so much that I bought the set up today. Two female plugs, one for the coach and the other for the toad, and then the coiled cord. $71.00 and I believe it is money well spent. I won't need an adaptor because the cord and plugs are the same.

Thanks a lot, and a bunch more.
