It’s kind of interesting, neither of the long rafters were as difficult as either of the short ones. I think practice has something to do with it.

Ron Hall I changed over to my Milwaukee screw gun. My arm and shoulder was killing me and I suspect the impact driver had something to do with that. It’s a whole different animal. One of the advantages of the scissor lift is it can give you leverage if you park it just right. The screw gun is more comfortable when you can get leverage. With the impact you have to be careful because you can strip out a screw in a heart beat. But you can also feather it in and I believe get a tighter fit. The screw gun goes in and free wheels when the set torque is reached. But it isn’t as easy to feather and not near as easy to back the screw out. When I hit a screw that won’t cut I set it aside and when I have one that cuts like a demon I’ll drill a bunch of holes with it and use the screws that couldn’t cut it. 2.7 cents each adds up. I can’t do that with the screw gun and it’s a snap with the impact.

The lift has a 110 volt plug at the bottom that is an extension cord to a set of plugs up top. Plugging and unplugging the power is a pain in the back, legs, etc every time I move the lift. But I think I can work with it if I lay my work out right. Dark thirty I got up to height and realized that the cord was unplugged from the lift. Not a big thing, I had the impact with me. Three screws short and the second battery died. Tomorrow I will go up and finish that off, lift is in position.

One of the interesting things about the lift is I can have it perpendicular to the work where I’m pushing sideways against the lift for leverage. I can push with everything I have and there is no feeling of the lift going over sideways even when fully extended up. I guess I’m just not as strong as I used to think I was.

We took some photos tonight after we got home from dinner.

It was a good day, lift is in her garage ready for tomorrow’s weather and we too the gin pole off of the skid steer, hopefully we won’t need the gin pole for a week or so.

Ron there are 28 purlins that go in between the rafters, figure 60 to 80 screws per purlin, plus I have to design and install the truss bracing so I can pull that temporary post. Hopefully I’ll have the framing up for the barn part roof by the time we leave in a month for Yuma.

Today it’s secure everything, 50 mph wind gusts predicted and shut off the well and empty the tank, supposed to be 20 or thereabouts in Thereabouts in the morning. I have a ton of brackets to make so today and tomorrow will be bracket making INSIDE the welding shop.

I had to edit to double number of screws required,

Glenda’s ready to start making the kitchen cabinets already

Ron I was outside and marveling how wonderful it felt, kinda balmy even, no wind, just perfect.

Ten minutes later leading edge showed up, cold mist and strong breeze, oh joy!

It's coming your way. Thirty degrees and 40 mph sustained winds in OKC area; a little bit of freezing rain/sleet so far. More coming. My neighbor's trees are all over my yard. Their leaves, that is. Wonder if they'll come take 'em back.

Have to say that reading about your episodes with Jane makes me feel a little wimpy when I have an issue. I usually fuss and fume for a few minutes then finally get to work fixing it.

Thanks Guy, we’ll be in OKC for Thanksgiving. Daughter already called from there with the news of y’all’s “sneeting” weather.

I ran to Sherman this morning to beat the colder weather this afternoon. About half of a mile from house I had to stop and take this picture.

‘Awhile back a bud pushed a red wagon my wife’s way. The axle sockets on the wheels were all wore out so they wobbled making it useless. But Glenda loved it.

After seeing all of the making 4 X 4’s into monster trucks over on “Good Morning” I decided a little updating for the lil red wagon.

Not only new tires and wheels, axles too plus a little welding involved.

She loves it.
