MH converter replacement/conversion

Not much info in this forum concerning replacement of the OEM power converters/chargers - mostly the older MagneTek units, so figured to see what others have used or considered.

FIRST off, I'll say that after LOTS of online investigation, I have ordered a WFCO Model 8945REP 45 amps DC output unit to replace our existing MagneTek 6345 version:

WFCO WF8945-REP WF-8945REP Ultra III Conversion Kit Converter Charger 45 Amp Camper Trailer RV

I have been noticing some power related interference in my Ham Radio receiver, as well as our 12 volt lights flickering, and since I use both sensitive computer and Ham Radio gear - as well as a solid state flat screen TV, figured this upgrade was as good a place as any to start - and the Ebay price of about $150 delivered wasn't too hard to justify!

In our case, since we boondock frequently, the new converter's feature of 3-stage battery charging, up to the full 45 amp rate, was a nice feature, requiring far less generator time for battery recharging when needed - and the low-charge rate in maintenance mode will help extend battery life as well.

The conversion itself looks quite fast and easy - essentially transfer several wires, and slip out the old, in with the new.

Any one else had experience with this brand, or this type upgrade?

We recently upgraded our 1989 OEM Progressive Dynamics converter to a Progressive Dynamics Intellipower with Charge Wizard PD 9245C 45 Amp RV Converter/Charger.
It was NOT an easy swap-out, partly because of the physical constraints, but also because there was little in common between the old and new units, and no wiring diagrams available.

Having said that, it was certainly worth doing, especially after the old charger overcharged and exploded one of our house batteries.

That's one of the nice features of the one I bought - and both Parallax, the new name for MagneTek, and some others, are also direct slide-in replacements for the older transformer type converters - the website I pointed to also provides well pictured steps to do the actual swapout.
