Missing GVWR sticker!

Lots of first for me here... I am the proud new owner of a 1989 Fleetwood Southwind M-L 33' on a Chevy Chassis. She runs great but is in need of some new tires. In doing my research, I learned, that I should know everything about the weight of this coach. To my surprise the GVWR, GAWR, GCWR sticker is missing. I appears to have been lost in the remodel by PO. I was hoping serendipity could match me up with an owner of the same model coach who could snap me a picture of theirs. I tried calling both Chevy and Fleetwood. Although both were very nice, neither had any answers for me. I am also hoping that the original tire size is specified. Right now it has different sizes front and rear, so I don't know which way to go with it.

Thank you in advance for the help. These forums have been a huge part of my RV education.

Welcome to irv2. Over at the FW section we have a link to FW manuals. Here's a link to yours.

Hope it answers some of your questions.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I have the manual, it only references the location of the sticker, not the info contained on it. Maybe if I could find an original brochure, it might have more relevant information. But I have searched far and wide for this info, my last resort is to find someone with the same rig.

Sticker or not you still need to weigh your rig so that when you do find the correct tire size you can set the pressure accordingly.

My sticker was located in the bathroom on the inside of the medicine chest door. They tend to put them in odd places.

I just had the same problem and since we don't have a truck stop or state scales within 50 miles to me, I was able to take it to the local "certified" grain company scales and only cost me $5 they weighted it empty and will again once I get it loaded for this amount. Guess back in the 80's they didn't think it was important to put GVWR on our stickers.

What size are the wheels on it?
The wheels can tell you quite a bit. They can at least tell what the maximum could be.
let say you have a DRW alxe with 16 inch wheels. At the very most The rear axle rating could be as high as 11,000LB But don't count on it. I happen to own one of the highest rated GVWR trucks that canme with 16 inch wheels.
(Rear axle rating 11,000lbs/ The E rated tires add up to 11,100lb rating. )

GVWR

My Gulf Stream has a placard just behind the driver's seat on the wall. The book says to weigh each axle, and to weigh side to side to make sure you get a proper balance for best road handling. We were lucky enough to have a PUC truck scale near us by the highway, and they leave the digital readout turned on when the scales are closed so anyone can pull onto them at their leisure and weigh all the way around without any problem. I got a basic weight of each corner that way, and know where I can carry more stuff without getting an imbalance situation.
