I recently just purchased a 1978 Fleetwood Southwind with a 454 Chrysler engine I had a new edelbock 4bl carb installed. Engine has 24000 miles on it and it also was in a covered area by original owner I bought it from a lady who changed her mind about owing a 28 ft MH. My question is highway speed. I'm luck to 60 MPH what speed should I expect on the Interstate?

Well, alas it's been short-lived. The commuting is taking it's toll on our family and we've decided to move and buy a home closer to work. In addition to that we've got baby #3 on the way! Our time with the MH hasn't been as long as I would have liked but we need to free up some money and without the commute it won't be as needed. I've made minor improvements, like installing new Trojan batteries, replacing a faucet and pressure tank, new curtains, etc....so I know she's really gonna continue to make someone a great RV for years to come. I've enjoyed this site and will definitely be keeping my account. It may be years from now before we are able to own another MH, but the bug has gotten in me and won't be going away. Until then, I'll be lurking around!

Sorry I missed this! Ours will do 70 pretty easily on the interstate. I have to watch it or it'll start creeping over 75 on occasion and that's faster than I want to be moving in something that size.

Are you posting it for sale on Craigslist? If so, whereabouts are you? Curious.
Thanks.

I'm located in Ozark, Missouri just south of Springfield. I put it on eBay last night and I'll be putting it on Craigslist as well.

Yeah my mistake it's a Chrysler 440 cu in engine and I got the speed issue fixed. Longer throttle cable gets it up to 70MPH

this thing has had some nice upgrades from original, would have been all carpet in that era, also the upholstery would have been an ugly plaid most likely. Still a very nice clean unit for sure
