Hi my name is stacy I only joined this group for a friend of mine, who owns an RV/motorhome. Somebody had tried to steal it by hot wiring the ignition. To make a long story short we could really use a manual for dummies .( No point intended) He ( my friend) owns a 1978 Chrysler southwind 440 motorhome. So if anybody can please show us a diagram of the wiring looking head on from under the hood. How the battery cables are connected and to where. Thank you in advance .

Stacy,

Welcome to the Forum! Wow, sorry for the trouble. Under "Owner's Forum" you can go to his type of RV and see if anyone there has a manual. Sometimes taking a picture and posting it gets a lot of help since people have an idea of what the issue is.

Vintage RV's might be another place to look. Look around the different forums and you will probably find what you need or the moderators will move this to the correct spot.

Good luck, you will find it here. Lynne

Welcome to iRV2.

Class A or C chassis ?
Do you know the engine size?
I worked at Chrysler from 75 >07 , I don't have a diagram, but if you describe your problem maybe I can talk you through a repair .

I think it's a class A with a 440 engine. See someone tried to steal it by hot wiring it. So what I need to do now is rewire so it will start again. So starting with the battery's and the wires go where exactly..?

Are you saying that someone chopped the wires at the ignition switch in the dash board and tried to hot wire it there?
That would mean you'll need an, ignition switch, wiring diagram.
Or did they go underneath the RV and try to hot wire it from there?
If the wiring in the dash was cut; can you drop the ignition switch out of the dash and match the wires up by color?

A Class C motor home has the front end and doors, of a Dodge van , where a Class A has nothing that resembles a Dodge or Chrysler product visible.

I'll look around on the internet and see if I can come up with a wiring diagram that may help.

Stacy; looks like you had multiple posts on the go for your questions , and the moderators have merged them.

Have the battery cables been damaged , or the battery stolen ?
You say under the hood , any chance you could post a picture of the problem area.
Info on posting photos is in the " FAQ " drop box , in the dark blue bar across the page under the " Google Search " box.
