If Memory serves the company is no longer in business and was called FMC. They have a club at FMCA and I think they may have other clubs too! I thought they used Dodge Engines? The new Work Horse Has a rear engine with the 8.1 Chevy gas engine but I don't know much about it! Good Luck with the search and Welcome to the forums!

I'm sure I remember seeing a rear engine gas pusher around 1986, give or take a year or two, and I think the manufacturer was Rockwood. This motorhome was new at a dealership.

This motorhome was huge for a gas powered unit at the time. It seemed like it was 36 or more feet long.

If I remember correctly, the engine was a Ford 460, and the engine was on a slide out tray. Very unique, but I have never seen one since, so they must have made very few of them, or they must have given a lot of trouble. I'm not sure.

Hi just joined and I happen to be looking for more information about this same topic. I just put a deposit on a Monaco 36' rear engine RV from 1987. It has a 454 engine. The vehicle looks beautiful and it very nice shape but what I'm researching was how well Monaco designed the engine cooling since I'm in AZ.

Chandler, You must be just up the road from me! Welcome to the forum. I didn't know about Monaco making a rear gas pusher. Monaco makes a great coach but I know they had a lot of problems with cooling issues but maybe they had found a cure for that..

Thanks I'm doing alot of research and I hear alot about cooling issues from all types of RV's. It seems anytime these rigs are stressed with climbing and trailering it points out any weakness in the cooling system.

I'm still searching but haven't made contact with another experienced Monaco vintage owner that can give me direct feedback.

I don't know, But probably not to many out there. The biggest following was the FMC but I heard of others with the Dodge,Ford and now Chevy too! Good Luck in your quest, Dan
