Looks like a pretty decent rig! I would buy one with a body like this as it is lower and not so huge.
Some of the new 5th wheels look like they swallowed the pickup. LOL
We do go off-road some with our MH and I can see where a 5th wheel this size would still be capable of this.
Do you have the To Do List written yet?
Enjoy your new rig and post of your new "adventures"

Wow, we had a dead ringer for that one at the park till just recently. It flooded while they were away because they left their water on and we had freezing temps, so they moved it out about a week ago.

I am very happy with the new trailer and i also like that it is lower to the ground. My truck should be more than enough for the job of towing it. The guy who owns it has a 1/2 ton Chevy with a 305 v-8 and a four speed stick and he said that he could hardly feel it back there. My 250 six should be able to tow when i get the automatic put in. It should be easier as the automatic makes it easier on the engine.I got a few more pictures of the outside and i don't have a to do list yet. I have been doing body work on the truck and the air compressor blew a head gasket so,...i did the work with hand tools. My arms are both broken! The latest shots are at the picasa site but will put a couple here, Dan

Dan the 5'r and the truck looks great! How bout some interior shots of the 5'r. Also keep a photo diary of your upgrades. We all know you can't help but tinker and upgrade. Best of luck!
Lloyd

I love those old Chevs as much as anybody but think you will find that six woefully inadequate. A stock 350 with a 4 bbl, short duration high lift cam and dual exhausts would do wonders. Have fun with it in the meantime.

If this sick cylinder will do it, fine, if not i will shove a 5.0 in it. That with the automatic should do just as good or better than the guy that owns it. His is a stick and 4X4 to boot. Said he didn't even feel it back there while he was coming here with it. I was looking over the photos this evening and found a rare shot. I will put it here so you can see it too. In the shot, Our coach "Dusty" is seen looking after the trailer!! Check to the left of the picture past the trailer! Wasn't planned. Dan

Yep, I think the 6 pack will work. I am still wondering if i can add a new tailshaft to the TH475 i got and then i could put it into the truck. I measured the length from the braker to transmission and is the right length for a tailshaft that a friend has. That transmission is Heavy Duty all the way! Total length is perfect for the truck but will have to switch the yoke. no biggie. I was in the trailer today for all of a couple of minutes and got disturbed so i didn't get any pictures yet of the inside. Maybe this week. I am working on the truck and need to get it finished while i have good weather to do it. I will start up in the trailer next month. We have a partial list of things to do. I want to paint the ceiling so it don't have the smoking yellow color they get from cooking and maybe smokers as well. I want to wash and wax the wood floors. By that, i mean real 100% wax!! I will buff out that floor. Want to check out all the water systems and holding tanks. While i am doing that Deb can clean up the kitchen and vacuum the rest of the coach. I have a short list of things i do want out of the coach. Antenna, Solar panel, Awning, Fridge vent. two Fantastic vents and the vent covers. I am going to put the back-up camera and microphone on the trailer and i can get another camera for the truck it self. I am thinking about the captains chairs and some kind of console that i can mount the cb on and the shifter and then i can mount the monitor up on the interior roof of the truck. I got a tool box for the front of the bed and am looking for a steel 5th wheel tailgate toolbox. That should give me enough room for the tools and a place under the front toolbox for the chairs and table and grill too. i am going to be needing to do a few things before i take any trip with it. I want to pack the wheel bearings. Check the brakes and replace the tires. Check ALL the lights on the outside of the trailer. I am also mounting the back ladder on the coach too. I have one of the two battery's i can put into the trailer till i am ready to move the coach. I have the brake controller and will need to wire up a 7 pin plug for the trailer/truck wiring hookup.
That's the short list. Not sure what else i will need but i am sure it will come to me as i am doing it. After i get the stuff out of the coach, i will be tearing out the wood and all the skin and running it across the scales here and getting rid of it. With the wood off, i will run the frame across the scales. I will burn the wood and that will be the end of Dusty. Next month will be 15 years we have traveled and lived in Dusty. It was a good coach but just too small... I would never get it sold for what we have in it and i don't want to try and sale it. We have around $30000.00 in it, but I will be taking most of that with us. The engine and radiator is one of the things we will be selling. I will be using the battery transfer and the new alt. too. Will be getting the gauges out of the coach i need too. There's a tach and a vacuum gauge that i can use in the truck. Another thing i want to do is replace all the bulbs with those led light bulbs. Should make it a little easier for the electrical system. Some of them are on the coach and will be taking them too. Thats all i can think of right now. Its not in order and for right now, don't need to be. I will be doing a bunch of work for the upgrades in both vehicles for sure. I think thats all. Later, Dan
