Panasonic Gemini

We have a Panasonic convection/microwave that does not work all that well on the microwave side of it, and have never attempted to use the convection side of it. It sparks across the inside while running which I'm sure is not supposed to be doing. My question is, if they are worth having them repaired or just throw it out and by a new one? My wife said she would be satisfied with a microwave since she knows nothing about baking or cooking in a convection oven. She brings the crock pot and of course we do lots of grilling outside.

If it's a 1989 model, I'd replace it rather than try to repair. Measure the space, that will determine which models will fit. If you have a LP gas oven, the convection feature might never be used in the microwave, save some money and look for a microwave only model.
