Pics of early stage remodel '73 Avenger
After demo about a month and a half ago I finally got some pics up and got to continue the remodel. Decided to raise the roof 7 1/4" for a little more head room and I'm glad I did because the 2 x 3's were bowed in almost an inch in 7'. I had some extra 4" metal studs and figured they wouldn't bow as much as wood, if any. I also added an extra curved piece of cedar to keep the roof from being so flat. I'm pretty happy with the strength and the braces turned out perfect. I'll keep the galv studs from the alum with some scrap rubber flashing and glue. The old roof had metal pipe strap run over the studs to support the roof between studs. It's lightweight and seems to work ok, I'll run more I think. The next step will be getting the roof repaired by riviting alum over the holes. I noticed the old repairs had a thick sticky waterproofing between the alum patches. Anybody have comments on that stuff? I need to plan for A/C and vent placement so I can frame and run electric for that. Comments and suggestions on anything I'm forgetting are welcome. Thanks
