Generator issue

Well I leveled the RV started the generator and let it run about 5 minutes. It had a little bit of a surge at first and then smoothed out some what. I turned the ac fan on and let it run a few minutes then switched it to low cool. The generator seemed to do ok but it still had a small surge to it. Switched the ac to high cool for a bit and the gen stayed about the same. About the time I shut the ac off the gen started surging again so I shut it down. I will check the fuel line and maybe pull the carb and give it a good cleaning. I thought for a bit the extra oil I added to bring the level to the full mark was the ticket. I do think it helped. I will keep trying your ideas and let you know the outcome. I noticed the exhaust was kicking out some black smoke so it might me running a bit rich so the choke might need adjusted.
I used to work on old motorcycles that peolpe just let sit and the main issue was the carb. The gas tanks would get rusty the bowls would get filled with rust and varnish. Thanks for the help. KW

Sure sounds to me like a dirty carb. I add Seafoam to my gas in the fall every year. I put several bottles in and add a couple more in mid winter. I don't seafoam it in spring and summer. I had the RV serviced last year and the guy pulled the carb assuming that it would be dirty. It was real clean. It's the seafoam and I run the generator every two weeks when not camping. Also, it's a good thing to run that generator under a load for a while. If I'm on the road in the heat of the day I'll crank the generator and run the roof AC. It will run for hours like that. It really doesn't hurt the gas mileage that much and helps keep the whole coach cool.

Spartan and Fan trailers?

We spotted these two trailers heading north on I-89 in NH this evening, heading back towards Vermont. The smaller Fan trailer appeared to be older, but the longer Spartan one looked like it was a newer model.

Interesting how the entry door is on the "wrong" side. Back in the day there wasn't much in the way of construction standards.

Humm, That could come in handy if someone is knocking on the front door and you don't want to talk to them.

Nice little unit spotted near my office

I do love the smaller units but wouldn't want to stay in one very long!
