My brother lives less than a half mile from that campground. It is unique to say the least.

That thing is mint! Mine is well used and in rough shape...thats the third scamper i've ever seen similer to mine. I had the table/extra bed in mine but removed it to open up the area and to install the wood stove...lol just got back from a month long camping trip in the rocky mountains by cadomin Alberta and sure missed my wood stove..the propane heater in my "new" Pace Arrow just isnt the same soothing heat as the stove....lol If you ever need any info on your Scamper there is a fellow at an rv dealer in lethbridge alberta...he used to work for pre built and is a wizzard when it comes to rv's...he helped build some of our scampers...

Thanks! I think I found the guy you're talking about - Larry DuMontier, and he works at Eldorado RV. His bio says he started in the RV business in 1968, building campers at Pre-Built. Sounds like he'd be the one to contact if we have a question about our camper. Your camping trips sound awesome!

Yes that is him! He even new the fellow that started /owned fleetwood and has some pretty cool stories. He's built his own motorhome before and said he used the same floor plan as our "scampers" lol because it was such a good plan...cool eh!?!
I'll try to post some pics of my new rig...and some pics of my bush man experience..lol
P.S I was telling the guys at work how I am so happy now that I have running water and my hot water tank is working in my new motorhome...lol
Hey does your scamper have the original hand pump system for the water tank? Larry told me u could pressure them up to 100 psi or something like that and go all weekend...I pressured mine up to 30 psi and my water cap blew off and I had a hell of time finding it in the field next to where I was camping...flew about 50 feet!
Larry also said those water tanks are glass lined.

That is very cool that he built his own motorhome based on the great Scamper floor plan. I'd love to see more of your pics!
LOL at the cap flying...Our hand pump is gone and an electric pump that runs off the deep cycle battery has been installed. It works well - we just camped with it for 2 nights/3 days down at the beach on the Bay of Fundy (a friend of ours is letting us park it on her property whenever we want - boondocking of course). Here are a few pics of our first camping trip with the old Scamper:
We love to fish striped bass off of this beach. You can see where our camper is parked just over the crest of the beach on the top right.
Everything worked perfectly in the camper. The fridge, stove, toilet and water worked flawless. I think there have been a lot of upgrades to this camper, like additional insulation, new interior lighting system (there is even a breaker panel installed), and the water pump. We haven't tried out the furnace or the hot water heater yet, although the lady we bought from said they still work but consume a lot of propane.
The only problem we had was the truck was hard to start when hot - like if it had been driving for an hour and it was shut off to get gas. The battery would drain almost dead trying to start it and the negative battery cable would get very hot. Let it cool off and it starts right up. My hubby is going to check the and clean the ground to the engine as it seems loose. If that doesn't work we'll take it to our mechanic.
Cindy

Sounds like vapor lock - possibly high underhood heat buildup when stopped after being driven a while causes fuel in lines to boil and vaporize in the engine compartment - might try insulating underhood fuel line(s) with aluminum foil or similar materials to reduce fuel line exposure to heat buildup...
