I'm refreshing the Red Max Pro finish today- got the MH scrubbed and rinsed and now its drying. Its been about a year and the front cap especially is dulled.

Others have posted about using a spray bottle for the RMP- do you spray ON the microfiber cloth or onto the fiberglass and then wipe with the cloth?

I used the dip-and-squeeze method last year.

I sprayed on the cloth. Best way to avoid runs and easier to handle when on the ladder.

All done with my "refresh" coat. I actually put 2 coats on, it went so fast. I don't think it took me an hour to do the 2 coats.

It looks as good as when I finished the 5 or 6 coats last year. I probably couldn't shave by the reflection, but I can see my teeth in it

I used a microfiber mop with a long handle to minimize the up and down of the ladder. I simply sprayed the mop hear for the upper areas, and stayed the surface directly on the surface I could reach. In fact the spray the surfaces I could reach and then wiped them with the rag just like I was applying furniture polish. Once I figured this out, the application time was cut in half. I only used a ladder for the end caps and corners.

Sorry everyone, but I was chuckling over the heated exchange on this thread. It just amused me that we could get that worked up over waxing our MH.

Whew! Finished all prep a few days ago and applied last coat of Zep High Traffic Floor Polish today. I probably went overkill on the pre-cleaning and prep work, but happy with the overall results...

Looks great. Did you put it on the bottom painted surfaces also?

Yes I did. They looked good before with regular wax. The places I saw the biggest improvement was on the top of the end caps (looked burned out) and the stripes (badly faded)

The gelcoat had to be waxed often and never looked as good as it does now. After stripping the wax the surface was smooth and somewhat chalky. The first coat of Zep HTFP sucked right into the gelcoat and I could see the difference immediately. Applied 3 coats total with 30-45 minutes dry time in between coats.

Thanks for the mop suggestion. I put four coats on with a microfiber cloth on one side and with the up/down move the ladder it took quite a while. Ran up to K Mart and got a micr-f mop! Wow! Big time difference!

I don't know about overkill but it sure does make it shine

As long as you don't remove any sound gel coat, I doubt you can do too much prep work. The more oxidation you remove, the better your results.

Would everybody who has used the RMP/Zep mind chiming in here for a head count?

It would be interesting to see the number of how many have actually used it, and for how long.

We did the original work last spring, 5+ coats on a badly oxidized '89 MH. Just applied the first annual "refresher" a few days ago. 2 coats (probably not necessary, but it went so fast) and it looks like new.
