Wow, what a difference !!! Hope mine will come out half that good. What did the TSP do to the graphic's, as you can see mine are breaking down ! Don't want to make a bigger miss, trying to fix what I have. My graphic's are a decal not painted on ! I've done it before (made a mess) out of a project, just ask my wife !!!!

Mine are decals also were cracked and faded all over also, the coach is a 98 that wasn't waxed in god knows how long.

The TSP, Bar Keepers Friend or the Scotch Pads didn't do anything to the decals but strip off alot of yellowing, stains and crud on them. You need to take the time to coat the decals with a single coat of Zep before you put a coat on the motorhome. If you do not then you will bleed colors over and you'll have to strip the Zep.

Also trim your decals if they are pulling up or fraying.

The entire trim, scrub, wash and wax took me roughly 14 hours.

Zoafan,

Thanks, that's some good to know stuff. I had the MH washed today at a local truck wash and that helped some. I will try a couple of small areas to see where it leads.

The one question I have not been able to answer is if the ZEP Heavy Traffic product has any UV protection ? The lable doesn't say anything about it, and I don't want to cover the whole HM with it and have it turn yellow in six month !!!!!

I would not use the Zep unless you have washed the coach with TSP. If they used any heavy soap and has any residue on the coach you're just setting yourself up for problems and to be dissatisfied.

It's a long process, it takes a lot of work and everyone I knew doubted me when I told them I was going to do it. After I was done I got nothing but WOW! In order for this to turn out good you need to follow all the steps or else you are asking for problems.

Here is the thread to my application:
did the ZEP (Red Max Pro) treatment today on my 98 Discovery

From what I researched is it does have UV protection and will not yellow if applied correctly. There are people that have been using this stuff for over 3 years with no problems. The only problems that have came up are with people who did not do the correct prep.

Good luck and get ready for a sore shoulder but it's worth it

Zoafan,

Thanks again, I do plan to wash the MH with TSP prior to applying the ZEP. I just had it washed because we traveled through a couple of rain storms coming home after purchasing the Allegro.

I guess my biggest worry is that cleaning and scrubbing the already weathered graphics will further destroy the color ? Here is a picture of the weathered strips..

Mine were just as bad and all the chemicals and scrubbing I did didn't effect them at all.

I'm really not nuts for the faded mauve graphics on my mh. Has anyone removed the graphics before using the Zep? Did you have ghost graphics that really stood out? Thanks

I have heard that the graphics can be removed with a heat gun. The Zip is a dealer not a stripper!!
