We need some advice on refinishing the walls in our Safari. We have all the furniture out as well as the carpet and wood strips from the galley and bathroom. We are almost ready to install the new vinyl strip flooring and we have been scratching our heads over what to do about the walls. They're not terrible. They're just a little buggered up in a few places. So, now would be the time to do it if we are going to refinish them.

I did a search but didn't come up with any new ideas. Probably didn't use the right search words. Have any of you painted, textured, or ????? over the wall paper in your RV? Thanks for your help and ideas.

fill any dings, dents with DAP Fast N' Final, prime with a good high bond primer, and paint your choice of color/s with good satin latex paint.

Or, use some of the many paint systems (Lowes, Home Depot) that will allow you to mimic marble, etc.

There is a thread somewhere on this forum that I read before I did mine. I recently painted mine front to rear after a refrigerator fire. Basically, the instructions I followed was to wash walls down with TSP, then rinse them well. The instructions then said to sand the walls lightly, but I skipped that step. I applied a good coat of oil based Kilz primer. After it dried well, I tested it's adhesion.. it was definitely on good! No peeling! I then put on two coats of interior semi gloss interior paint. So far it is doing great, looks good and has really freshened up the coach.

DW just informed me we are going to paint it using "crinkle paper process". She described it to me and it sounds fine by me. Long as she's happy.

I'll add some pics when we get done. Thanks for the replies.

We are not doing the floors or any of the paneling but we are going to paint the rear walls of the 82. I want/need to paint the ceiling. I took off some or the wall paper under the front bed above the driver/passenger seats. It appears to be thin 1/4" sheets of 4' foot wide plywood. How about a light sand (there's the wallpaper glue)followed buy a good primer/sealer and then ceiling paint?

I remember at work we used to paint over wall paper and usually had good results.
Don't forget to post Pic as you go along.

we just finished our walls we had extra fabric from doing the headlinner
so tryed it on dinning wall looks great so did bedroom walls also picture
of headlinner and wall

Where did you get the material? looks good. I found some last night in a Boating/sailboat parts Magazine, they have about 10-15 pages of different types of materials. My ceiling is a type of wall paper that I want to replace.

its a microfiber fabric you can find it at fabric stores its used at lot for
sofas chairs ect so will hold up very good we used the heavy duty spray
glue from hd or lowes ps might find fabric on ebay

Thanks, I am going to look more into the other option @ that Boat/Sail magazine.They go from wall paper up too Leather & padded or not padded. They also sell sound proofing/heat materials to go in the Doghouse, insulation and foam.

They have how to do it videos for almost everything. Of course they are useing a sail boat but there can't be much difference. I'm looking at the perforated foam back for my ceiling.
Doses anyone know what the measurement is for a sq yard?

I ordered the original ceiling material from Monaco. It comes in 4'x8' sheets .. it has app. 1/2" rigid foam backing then 1/4" soft foam then the vinyl. Each sheet was about $85, so similar in cost as just the foam backed vinyl from Sairite. In my case, I was matching existing ceiling. However I did have to pay more for shipping!
