Remove paint from '78 Avion?

Because my new-to-me Avion 23 Class C has an aircraft-aluminum body, I've been thinking about stripping the paint off and having a silverside rig, just like the Silver Avion and Airstream folks. The original paint is already flaking off.

Is there any random reason that this might be a terrible idea? I think it would look really nice with a silver camper body and a repainted cab. Then again, I've never seen an unpainted aluminum Class C, so maybe there's an engineering issue I'm missing?

Yes you can remove the paint using a paint stripper intended for aircraft. From what I understand (not having done it) the process is a bit involved. You are looking for a non-methylene chloride, alkaline paint stripper. If it were me I would be having a talk with the folks at Airstream (the maker) and see what they use and check out Avion trailers - Airstream Forums I toured their facility a few weeks back and they, Airstream, do restorations of their trailers including one Avion I saw in the lot.
