Removing an old Fresnel lens from rear MH window?

As the title states, the Fresnel (wide angle) lens on or MH is more a distraction than a help, and obscures proper rear vision thru the remaining rear window space. Added to that, it's somewhat stained from old age, and really needs to be either removed or replaced - but what's the recommended best method for removal? Razor blade? Alcohol or some other chemical? I'm leery of a heat gun for fear of breaking the window from uneven temperature stresses - and this is also the emergency exit window...

Any help?

It's been years but I think I just used new razor blades and then alcohol.

What about lacquer thinner or mineral spirits and a razor blade?
