Replacing and escape hatch.

Hey there, brand new to RVing, and bought a 1978 Chevy Country Cruiser. The escape hatch is quite old and disintegrating. I pulled the old one out and measured inside the hole, and it came to 14 1/2 x 21 5/8. The measurement of the bottom of the escape hatch that's fit into the hole is 14 x 21.

Does this mean I need a 14 x 21 hatch? Seems like most of them are like 13x20 or 15x22.

Thanks so much, not exactly sure which size I should be buying here.

Thanks for the welcome. We're pretty excited to get her going. We're planning on taking her on the hunting trip next month if I can get this hatch situation figured out, and get a bunch of other things fixed up.

Ended up just ordering a 13x20 hatch, with the intention of just closing the 14x21 hole up a bit. But when I went down to pick up the 13x20 hatch, it actually measured 14x21 exactly, and fit perfectly in the hole.

Not sure how they come up with these numbers, but the thing fit perfectly, the job was easier, and everything's good now.
