Does anyone know how class A's are measured? The person I purchased my Southwind from told me it was a 26 footer. I've misplaced the title but I measured it bumper to bumper and it is 27 1/2'. Just curious how they do it. It's helpful to know when reserving a campsite, that's all.

This makes me wonder also. Ours is a Winnebago Sightseer 31E which leads me to think it is 31', indeed it was shown as so at the dealers, but it measures 32' 7".

Hopefully some very clever person will soon explain all, because thicko here does not get it.

It's comforting to know I wasn't the only one stumped by this. Lol

Ours is the same. We're listed as 40' but we actually measure more like 41.6'. Not sure how RV manufacturers set their sizes, but this is very common.

We had a Monaco Windsor 34 and it was much closer to 36 feet than 34.
Boat manufacturers do the very same thing...

There's no standard. The length is more about how it's marketed.

All manufactures measure the same way.
On a MH from the front bumper to the rear bumper.
Model numbers they give to the MH has nothing to do with the actual length, but may be within a foot or so.
The actual length will be given in the brochures usually under "Specifications" for the given make's.

Our 35' coach is 35', the ladder which sticks our 10" makes it 35'-10" overall.

It seems every RV manufacturer buys their measuring tape from the same Chinese company. Every one we've ever owned has been longer than the model number would have suggested.

There are about as many ways to designate an Rv model as there are manufacturers. There is no standard other than the OAL (overall length) listed in the brochure on the RV.

Ours is called a 34V and it measures 34'-11"

Wow, thanks so much for the responses. It seems I have a 27.5' RV, not the 26' it was advertised.

Boats seem to go the other way though. The length should be bow to stern along the keel. Most tend to cheat to make them sound larger than they are. Molded in bow pulpits and swim platforms are not supposed to be included in the length but they routinely are. A couple had a 27' cruiser in the slip adjacent to our 26 footer years ago. If the two were aligned when docked it was obvious our boat was longer.

Got me thinking we need to get the tape measure out for our MH now.

The main thing is whether it fits your needs. If it works for you, length is not an issue.

So your saying size matters?
