RV parts replacement
Hi I'm glad to be a part of the group, an excellent source of help... I just purchased a 1977 Chevrolet Itasca Wayfarer with 70K miles. It was in some disrepair, the roof had a leak which had been repaired but the interior roof was never replaced, nearly all the handles and door closers were broken. the Black water tank had a massive crack in it. the main door to the RV handle is broken. The A/C was broken too. I managed to replace the interior roof with some nice white melamine sheeting, I fixed all the doors/latches/closers and even made new doors for the ones that were missing. I went in search of polyethylene rods to try and weld the black water tank and to my surprise the guy at the store showed me a new polyethylene epoxy which I used on the tanks after heating them, sanding them and washing with acetone before I applied the epoxy, this worked and was a much cheaper fix than buying a whole new tank I hope this helps others. My problem now is the lighting assembly that houses the rear lights on the passenger side. every lamp on the right is dimmer than every lamp on the rear drivers side.. Is there any way that I could replace the whole assembly, the plastic has broken down over the years and right now its being held together with tape. If anyone knows where I might be able to find an older part like this than please let me know. also I am looking to replace the interior handle of the RV main door and was wondering does the whole mechanism need to be changed or will I be able to get away with just replacing the handle and where I might find one.
any help on these problems would be greatly appreciated
