Question Shore cord

My 91 HR Class A 37ft unit came with the shore cord which at the moment is nasty dirty and really stiff.
Made it very difficult to stow away momentarily while I turned the unit around in the driveway after driving around the block for the fun of it, LOL........any tips to make the thing less stiff at least??
I am being told I would not want shorter.

If it is original, 26 years old, you should buy a new one.

I just looked at Amazon and all they carry are extensions.......
Any suggestions on who would carry the real deal with the ends having the 3 colors, etc. Lowes type places carry's cord for swapping out dryer's into 210, etc but I can't say I've every seen other kinds.

If your cord is like mine is the cheapest cord they could get by with. It's probably plastic and the colder the weather the stiffer it gets. Replace with a rubber cable and you won't have any more trouble

I like the Rvupgradestore.com. They have a large selection of 50 and 30 amp power cords.

I have had to renew our power cord and what I did was purchase a cord at Walmart. Then I cut the one end off the cord to expose the black, white, and green wires which I then attached to the power box in the coach. That was five years ago.
Regard,
Jimb

Don't be so focused on buying a replacement cord. Go to Home Depot, Lowe's or the electrical supply store and buy the correct size 3 or 4 wire cable. Add the correct end and wire it into your box.

Do you need a 30 Amp or 50 Amp? Is it hard wired into the RV or plug in with a twist-lok?

Here's a 50 amp plug in at Amazon:

Just my 2 cents go to Camping world or like store. If you can drive the MH so be it, tell them you need a cord and they will help you. My Mh came with a 25 foot cord attached from factory. I also have 100 foot cord of same size wireing. I use both for 2-3 months each summer. Run Ac units have had no problems. You don't want too hook up with to small wiring or have 3-4 cords plugged together. You also must know if its 30 or 50 amp service.
Have you had any offers for someone too come help you out with the MH? Unfortunately we are not going too Az this winter or we would we go thru Okla. city.

It's actually rubber and stiffened with age plus cold at the moment.

30 and hard wired.....

It's held up fine with age and carries the current well and all, just very difficult to take out and put away adding to the daunting thought of what quite a few parts of RVing I am beginning to find out there are, LOL
Maybe I'll just make that my son's chore, LOL

When I needed an extension cord so I could power my coach while it was in storage I went and bought the biggest, baddest one HD offered. I think it was like $150 and had 10ga wire and was 100ft - ended up still being only good for 15Amp. I needed the length because their receptacle was that far away.
Bottom line, 30 Amp cords will be heavier yet (maybe 8 ga) so they'll be stiff in the cold.

Maybe after you spend your first $Mil fixing everything on the rig (I know, I'm going through it too), you might consider an auto wind cord reel with new heavy 30A cord? They're nice. I would imagine that a frozen cord will still give them a struggle too.
