Should I or shouldn't I ? Rare?

I found this 70's (anyone gave a year on this thing?) Holiday Rambler MotoVan TC tandem axel. I was told it was rare... But how rare? Is there a clamoring for one of these? I already did a rebuild on a 76 Amerigo, so I have the skill set. I just don't want to start something that wouldn't be sellable should I decide having 3 RV 's already is enough.

Never seen one that I know of, does it slide into the back of a pickup?

Does this camper go in the back of a truck?? I have never seen one......My parents had one some what like the one in the photo, it was a bumper pull HR w/front overhang(bed) ...I have never been able to find a picture of one, even posted the question in the vintage section. Looks great!

If the wheels stay on it while mounted on the truck, I can't imagine how it would go around a corner. It would take a pretty hefty truck to carry it.

Does it have a hitch on the front? that will tell you whether its a TT or truck camper.

There were TT made like that which look like a truck camper but infact were made that was for tight turns.

I doubt its a truck camper as the rear wheels would screw up the turning radius so bad.

It is a truck camper (slides into the truck) it has an extra axle to carry the extra long rear end. Born Free also made these kind of RV's back in the 60/70's. The tandem wheel is butt up against the back of your truck and the wheels have air bags to buffer the bumps so that the camper doesn't buck up and down in your bed. It was actually made to off road, believe it or not.

Regardless, some Holiday Rambler enthusiasts say that this thing is rare... So I am seeing just how rare. AND is it rare enough that someone would want this thing down the road. When I researched her, I found out that there weren't very many made and even less still out there.

Get a nice restored 70s pickup to haul it, fix it up real nice, and you will be the hit of the local classic car shows.

That is sooo cool.
Reminds me of the old Movie "The Werewolf " the mother Gipsies trailer look's like it. I think the rounded edges are so neat.
Yes I would refurbish it but try and keep as close to original as possible.
That's old....

I am sure someone will want it. Probably not a big demand though. Would be worthwhile just for the interest you would get.

There may be a reason they are so "rare".

I had a friend that had one. He said it would tend to lift the unit up off the back end of the box if he went over a speed bump. Otherwise he really liked it. I think it just felt that way because I believe it was just lifting some weight off the rear springs.
He towed a large boat with his ford 3/4 ton. I remember working on a hitch mod that he built. Today insurance company's would frown on a hitch that is not engineered.
Today it would be a real show stopper.
