Talk to me about shower heads, please.

So, as the cabinet/wall painting nears completion, "Step #2" is to be changing out all the plumbing fixtures. As I've mentioned, I already have the new toilet, sink, faucets for tub/shower & vanity along with kitchen sink faucet. The only thing I haven't acquired is a new shower head. As a matter of fact, outside of a very brief "burst" I haven't seen the shower in action, just confirmed it did, in fact, work. For background, the coach is equipped with a recently installed Sure-flo water pump. Having said all that, why can't I install a standard, off-the-shelf, shower head.

Now, I know that, of course, the plumbing part is compatible, but how much is pressure a factor? I've seen these Oxygenics head used in a lot of coaches, and evidently it's claim-to-fame is "pressure". Do I need that to get a "real shower". Like everybody else, I'm not sure how much the shower will actually be needed in the coach as we probably won't be doing a lot of boondocking. However, I'd like to know it's feasible to use it should the need arise. She's going to be used as a "Guest Suite" in a few months for visiting family for my daughter's wedding, and while I'll encourage them to come inside the house, you never know what sleepy people will do, right?

So, once again I will defer to the wisdom of the forum and those with experience. What do you recommend? Should I spring for the one above (even though the boss doesn't think it's "very cute"), or can I use something else? Thanks in advance, by the way.

Do a search here for Oxygenics and read for your self.

I have the Evolution model with a lifetime warranty. I won't use anything else.

We just purchased the "world famous" Oxygenics shower head and find no difference EXCEPT the Oxygenics has no bult in off/on valve (another $8-10 purchase). Appears Monaco/Beaver did not skimp on the original faucet and we are seriously considering going back to it.....

With a 1984 rig I think you would benefit from Oxygenics. Worked well with shore power at 17 psi

You can use either a standard or the Oxygenics. How much difference you will feel in the shower depends very much on your water pressure. If you have good starting pressure you may not feel much, but if you have low pressure or you're running off the water pump (e.g. Dry camping) it will make a difference.

You can use something else. Our original Winnebago shower head was as good if not better than the Oxygenics because you could turn off the water at the shower head. I also tested them both vs. an old Peerless we got from Walmart that I took out of our home shower when we remodeled it. The Peerless had alot higher pressure when using the same test hose and test source vs. the Oxygenics and the original Winnebago shower head. If the original in your RV was very poor then Oxygenics is an improvement but I think it is over price vs. what you can get from Walmart for a low flow high pressure replacement. Besides that the Oxygenics is very ugly.

We had wonderful pressure at home (When we had one) so after reading about the Oxygenics, we went to CW intent on buying one, they had two type, I opted for the cheap one, plastic, bottom of the price ladder.
It's in the storage box underneath.
We have 45 psi at the park where we are wintering which makes me happy with the head that came with the HR.
Tre reason I stored the Oxygenics was it had so much single pattern pressure it splashed everywhere.

All righty then, looks like I'll try something off the shelf that's a tad more aesthetically pleasing. Out of curiousity, do newer coaches have a different type plumbing system in them that would generate more pressure? What I'm seeing, water line-wise is gray hoses that it looks like were recently changed as they're not weathered, cracked, etc., but I'm not sure of the diameter.

My main concern for dry camping will be water conservation. If you're on full hookups, you can hook up your grey water to the sewer and keep the tank open so it constantly stays drained out without worrying about the tank filling up from high water consumption.

Here's a vote for the Oxygenics. Made a night and day difference in the useability of our shower (2003 Fleetwood Flair). The newest model has the switch to turn it off at the head which I wish ours had.

Our vote is the Oxygenics. Have one in the coach as well as the S&B.

Don't they sell a "on/off" attachment for all shower heads? If so, is this not something you can use on the Oxygenics? Also, at one time way back in the day, seems like I remember buying a "pressure" attachment to go right before the shower head that was supposed to help with low pressure systems. That's been over 20 years ago, so I have no faith in my memory at that rate. I think I better hit up Google. Thanks to all for weighing in. Looks like I'm kinda where I started but it's good to have different perspective.

I added a shut off valve I got from eBay for about $5.00.

Oxygenics makes the most difference at low water pressure.
