Some of the ma and pa shops out there have some of the older stuff used in rv's. I switched over to magnetic and they hold much better than those spring latches. On ours they were metal springs slipping over a plastic knob and the spring steel was cracking and they would no longer hold at all!! I also replaced all the doors as they were falling apart and used all new knobs on the doors and drawers! Yeah..I know...I cheated!!

Ok today while we had the crazy house full of children hid outside to work on the beast. He went to go get these fittings for the water hoses..And one place was like no one makes these anymore..Well off to Home Depot he went. And found them. The PO cranked these plastic fittings down so hard he cracked them. Now guess what....NO LEAKS! Well cept in the toilet lol. And that will be dealt with at a later date. Scott said he does not think those batteries are going to survive the winter. PO also bought cheap batteries..That are NOT gonna last much. (these are seriously supposed to only be a couple months old) So far not much replacing of things have had to be done. I think mostly its a cosmetic issue. A little updating and the beast will be happy. I tried suggesting to the kids to call it Bertha...LOL I got shot down. So The beast it will stay. O also while Scott was fixing the water lines. He noticed you can see where it had been leaking for a long time. You can see where it was spraying up. We will probably also replace the wood board under the bunks. It really does not look in bad shape. Just can tell its had water on it. And if its been like that this long..Well we all know its soft. All it is, is particle board. Ok off for now. Head still spinning from the full house. I am used to 2. Not 6 lol. And then my brother showed up..with his wife and baby....Man what a day... By the end...Headcount. 7 kids, 6 adults, 1 dog, 1 cat and i have a headache hahahaha

Grip on the headache!! Good thing that you can escape from the curtain climbers once in awhile. Cheap battery's are just that. The old owner probably used the coach once or twice a year and during the winters would leave it parked and never started it up to let them run. Thats harder on them than using them or at very least start them up and run then a few minutes and the Generator and run it for a hour or two and let it run with a partial load. Good luck, Dan

Yeah wee have been starting it up once a week since we got it and let it run for a bit. But you can tell these batteries are really junk. YAYA CURTAIN CLIMBERS GONE..Well except mine lol. Today we are actually working on our home business stuff today so no doing anything to the beast. I am going to get out there and take pictures of stuff we have done so far. Hopefully haha. Mainly the only thing is that floor. When we really get into it..Im sure we will find lots to do. But since we arer not fulltimers in it we don't notice as much. Maybe when Scott and I get older It actually seems like a fun thing to do..(well until I read YOUR fun haha)

Yeah, but what you don't know about is the 8-9 years before that!! We have been across the country twice and all over the western states and want to get back to it. We didn't have an issue other than the normal service and tires. Not to bad there for a bought New to us rv!! It had a couple of small issues but nothing that didn't keep us from getting around half the country that first 6 months!!! We have met so many different people with that rv. People from other country's with all kinds of different foods and all kinds of party's!!! I wouldn't trade anything for those memories. The last 3 years have been the hard ones as we were going to update her and hit the trail again but Debs Mother and Father died on us and i was having trouble with my Daughter too!. Sorry to say that didn't go the way we wanted but You have no control over other people, places and things so We picked up one foot after the other and started again. We have Dusty about 75% done but a little back-up with this new leak. But they are going to make good on the repairs. So i have the truck done and the trailer pretty much done and i am ready to redo the kitchen but need to get this roof out of the way first. After that i can get back to finishing this home and get on the road again. All of it is a learning experience and something always happens to give you another memory to save on film or in my mind. Most are good memory's...
Anyway, Enjoy your new home away from home! We have a log that you may want to get. I will see if i can get the home page and post a link here.
It is called the RVer's Notebook. I got it on disc awhile back, but you may be able to find a copy somewhere.
Link: http://www.rvnotebook.com/ It may not look all that great but with the Maintenance schedules and insurance info at your fingertips and the photo and scrapbook is super neat!!
Hope i made A better impression about older homes like Dusty, Dan

You are most def right about that! We know the owner before these last ones were methodical about keeping it good. Well up until I think they got to old for it. We actually found a magnet with a statement by one of their family members still on the vent for the oven and stove. But ya know alot can happen to a vehicle if it sits to much in a year. Or in the years before the owners before decided to give up The Beast. We are supposed to get rain tomorrow....Not looking forward to finding leaks in other places. But I will go out there many times and keep checking. We are going to end up pulling windows apart soon to replace the furry stuff(hehe I love making new names) Because we arer sure its going to leak into there somewhere from those windows. On top of that..That little screen vent down by those front seats.. Well the passenger side is completly exposed. I pulled the nasty rug they had down there the day after we got it..To find a puddle. So I hope the wind does not blow that way because I just got stuff stuffed in there to hopefully keep it from soaking the floor. I like the beast. I LOVE the eyebrows haha. Like someone givin ya a dirty look drivin down the orad. So crossing fingers no major leaks after the rain. Still gotta figure out when we are going to fix the rear seal. Small things first this time. Unless it is a major prob that HAS to be done now.
Off to get ready for tomorrow. Daily life around here calls hahaha

Its part of the game..Finding all the leaks is like finding a $20.dollar bill on the sidewalk!! A Lot of times we just re-coat to try and get them all! And then sometimes you have to re-coat again! It can be a hit and miss issue though!. Good luck with yours. We have had a lot of memories with ours and they keep building as we go along,Dan

Ours leaked a little in the doorway (rear one had rot... fixed it with bondo after digging out all the rot). Got to looking at the trim around the door one day after a rain. Seems I have like a "J" channel around the door (exterior). the bottom track ws filling up with water and draining back under the door into the interior. I drilled 2 tiny holes in each corner of the bottom so the water would dribble out. No interior water puddles since.

Wow, Rolling down memory lane there!! There are several different pictures of yours that my daughters were the same,[hers was an Itasca but still a Minne Winn] Hers was a 78 i think. I hated those cabinet doors and handles but you should be able to get them at Winnebago still. I am still glad i went with Coachmen,Sorry! Hers was shorter as the twin beds were where her door and bathroom were. And the sink and table were on the drivers side. The full sofa was on the curb side. Don't have any shots of hers. Hers was a Class C too! Lots of work hers was!! Mine too!! have fun with the beasty!!
