to cover it or not to cover it..thats my question

I wont have inside storage anymore.thanks to building codes ..local inspector made me build stairs on the end on the shop. that 4 ft wont allow my 34 ft Suncruiser in the 36 ft shop. so I'm thinking of ordering a RV cover from Ebay. $200 with shipping. versus possible 3 ft of snow on it. I did have the roof resealed last fall.dealer said it very solid for a 92.

Looking at your photo, I'd bring the stairs up through the floor parallel to your RV providing you can lose the space.

The weight of snowfall will still be on the top of your rig even with a soft cover like that. It would just keep the Sun off of your rig.

stairs

I originally built stairs that pulled down from the second floor. inspector said that's not legal anymore. I had that style in my shop for 23 yrs before back where I lived .

Walt. in order to build thru the floor,I would need way to much floor space. no will leave it outside for now. we decided that a 34 foot motorhome is too big. will find a 28 fter before we do our trip across Canada .

Did you consider installing a spiral staircase?

Exactly ! And as soon as you remove them back your coach in. Problem solved.

Also do your own research to be certain that his code interpretation is correct.

to cover it or not to cover it.

my late father and I have actually built 2 steel spiral staircases for others .but the wife has over 100 blue plastic tubs full of crappolla up stairs. a spiral staircase is too small to carry those down. so the old Itasca is outside. the cover just came and so did the snow..cant cover it now till we get a week of sunshine to melt the snow on the roof.

Hate to see your MH out in the cold. Here is another alternative to consider.

Why not turn those stairs so they run alongside the top area. Walk up them and turn left to get to the platform. Same stairs, just at a different angle. Back rig in and not bother buying a different one.

Hi KenV, thanks for your post, i am debating covering my 1999 Holiday Rambler while in storage mostly to protect from damage from the sun, but any of the elements as well. Was curious what happened, did you end up buying an Ebay cover, or one from Camping World? The price difference is pretty stark.
Camping World: For a 38' cover CW is asking from $400 to $600 depending on the "model" (they sell two, I think both are Camco).
Ebay: The other types (like the one in your picture) are more in the $200-$300 range (depending on the seller on Ebay or the Web - but they all look the same). Just curious which one you chose, or if anyone has any experience with these covers to justify double and triple the price. Thanks.
