Toilet Water Leak

Our 92 pace arrow has had the original toilet removed and replace and has worked well since we bought it. Today preparing for a trip I noticed that the small amount of water that stays in the bowl after a flush was slowly leaking into the blk tank. I'm assuming that a seal has failed, question is that seal hard to replace and what is it called, so when I go to order one I know what to call it

Thanks

Tony

Before replacement, you might try a few other steps. Try opening the valve and letting it snap shut a few times. If that doesn't do it, next step, clean the rubber seal. Mineral deposits and bits of toilet paper can cause the seal to fail. An old toothbrush can be used to scrub along the seal, holding the flapper open. Go to a home improvement store and buy some plumber's silicon grease. Rub that along the seal and see if the water now stays in the bowl.

You can replace the seal, if you don't have a copy of the toilet owners manual, Google the make and model of the toilet and I'm confident you'll much information, including the replacement seal # and instructions. It's not a hard procedure to replace the seal.

Bflinn,

Before you do any rash, buy the smallest bottle of CLR that you can find. Pour enough on top of the valve so that it covers the valve by a little. This can clean the flush valve. Save replacing the seal for winter work. With most pots it is not difficult, but it is a massive PITA.
