Jay, yup know the eye roll well, planning a project is almost as much fun as doing one, even if its down the road somewhere. Hi Rail, glad to hear that alls well, stay away from them tornados .

Hey Frank; I can see there is a lesson to be learned here. I was thinking the eye roll meant that she has something in her eye. I see there is more to it and it is some kind of signaling system something like morse code.

Eye roll = She thinks you're nuts

Good Morning All, I see that all the body language is pretty much universal . Thinking of working on the TH today, picked up some mounting parts for the solar panels yesterday, so can start laying that out. Have a great day all.

I do that eye rolling every so often myself, course I am not the only one in the house that does that. I get it everyone once in a while when I go look at another MH and he says they all look the same at this point. I tell him I am looking for "The" one and I'll let him know when I find it.


What do you guys think about the shorter (27 ft) MHs? I keep seeing this one and the price keeps dropping. I don't think there are a lot of buyers for these short ones and it would probably be a resale problem too.


Anyway, hope you all have a great day and that the sun shows like ours is doing right now and the temp keeps going up this next week or so.

There is nothing wrong with the shorter ones, just no as much room. I had a 28' Southwind for a few years, it served the purpose, but with no slides it was tight. If it is the one you are going to full time in, that depends on how close that you and DH can live together. The best thing that I can tell you is go look at it and see what the inside looks like and does it suit your purpose.

Lynne, I agree with Frank, I would say it would need slides to get as much room as possible, and when you go look at it sit down and spend some time ((if possible) in it like you would if you owned it. Frank, I think the nicer weather has almost as much to do with it (working on the TH) as how the knee feels .

Hey Peeps.

Terry - Glad you're feeling up to getting out there and working on the TH. Amazing to me that one can have a joint replaced ad do so much so fast.

Lynne - I'll just paraphrase some things I have seen on so many threads about choices here. Find a floor plan you like at a price you can live with and go with it. Resale only matters if you're getting out for good. RV is not an investment it's a money pit blah blah blah. I know for us, and what we have planned we can't go under 40 and not less than 2 slides. Need the space. Dont want to do the cha cha everytime I'm cooking and someone needs to use the head. I like having a coffee table in front of the sofa too, no slide no table. Do not get discouraged along the way, we have been seriously hunting since May last year. Had a few we almost bought but in the end, taking our time and doing our research has stopped us from getting a bad coach. Patty says they all look alike anymore too. Front galley, mid galley, left side, right side after that its just color, texture and equipment. We have our list of must haves and skip all the ones that don't have them. Long winded way of saying you will know when you find the right one and it will come when the time is right.

Frank - I'm glad someone other than me got a laugh from that.

I am jonesing to have tools in my hands. There is some stone tile that is going to get fixed to the floor today if it kills me.

What Jay said.

You should (could) sit down and determine how you are going to use your coach. Weekends, weeks, month, several months. Just realize there will be times when you will be coach bound. Mother nature has a way of raining on your parade.

If she does will you have the room to exist several days in close quarters? Like Terry and Jay said you can get by and do the cha cha but do you want to?

Does it have the amentities you would like? We did not think we wanted a stackable washer dryer. I set it up in the 5er but Janet nixed the installation. Now that we have it in the coach she would not have it any other way. She used to be OK with dragging the laundry over to find all of the machines loaded. She used to walk over, find a vacant machine, come back for the laundry to get back to all of the machines occupied (frustrating). She was generally successful by getting up early to head over. Now that she has the machine she does it when she wants. Worth the money - priceless.

Dont let the thought of depreciation worry you. Again as Jay says consider it money spent for entertainment. Just like going to the casino or show or out for dinner. You get to enjoy those activites but take very little away. Think of it this way, go out for a nice dinner, spend a 100 and one bowel movement later it is gone. At least a MH has touchable value. Spend 100 and a year later you still retain at least 90. Depreciation only cuts in when you sell your unit. If you buy one that fits all of your criteria you will not sell it and thus will not lose.

Sit down with DH and determine what and how you would like to enjoy your retirement. You might as well be comfortable instead of "making do". After all you earned it so you can spend it the way you are most comfortable.

I have seen people happily snowbirding in everything from Class B and tiny Boler trailers to 45' 5er and coaches. Somewhere in that range will be the one for the two of you.

Once you have determinged your needs (wants) buy your last one first. The main thing to be concerned about then is mechanical recorsds and condition of the MH. Do the best due diligence you can.

It will happen. Do not get frustrated and force something, but you know that.

Here's a couple pics of the completed install of the front vent, it has a small fan because it was first bought for a bathroom vent, but that vent is now going to go thru the wall, (more room for solar on the roof).
