Sounds like you are making progress while I wander around. Made it back to home base today and spent most of the evening moving the flag.

Good Evening, Bill, Glad you made it back home safe and sound . We should be wandering ourselves.............soon I hope . Well we had a few sprinkles of rain this morning then nothing, boy I'm glad the weather person can't predict the weather. Had to design and build a set of ramps for a person that is picking up and delivering golf carts, so I made a set that will slide into each other and are 10 ft. long when assembled, easy to drive up. Should pick up the batteries tomorrow, 6 volt 230 amp. at Sam's Club. Have a Great Night All.

Terry,
I think those are what I have in my unit, except, I only have 4. You will have plenty of power and reserve storage to last. Probably a lot longer than your water will last, especially with the solar panels.

Good Morning, Frank, I had researched batteries and those had good reviews from people on the forum here, for the cost. I want to put in 6 eventually but just don't have the money right now. I know you should have all the batteries the same age, but I think if you are diligent on checking and maintenance you can add bats at a later time, we have done that on big trucks for years, (just replacing the bad one). I have equipment that most people don't have for checking, from my auto repair biz, (computer unit that does a bunch of tests) I still need to purchase the equipment for the rest of the solar panels, controller ect. Have a Great Day All.

Good morning Terry,

Much like many other people who have come and gone. I wanted to say NICE work! I'm so glad I've stumbled across your post, and took the time to read ALL of your work so far. Very inspiring and epic post and would love to see more pictures if you have more.

I'm going to go back and re-read some of the first 10-15 pages, so I hope to answer my own questions. How long did it take you to settle on a layout before starting (or did you just start, and evolve with time)?

Terry,
I agree with you, that you can have different age batteries, but I do think that the 2 that you tie together to make the 12v should be the same age. I did the replacing the bad battery on my 4 battery set ups on my 10 wheelers also, seemed to work out ok.
You may find out that you only need the 4 batteries, especially with the solar, to recharge them daily. I do have a meter on the wall so I can keep an eye on the voltage when running off the batteries, that way I can fire up the generator and recharge before they get too low. We don't do a lot of boondocking, but we can do so for a week or so without any problems.

Rebuild

Good Afternoon, Scott, Thanks! and welcome jump in anytime, when I started we had an idea in mind but once we started it went out the window . We went totally in a new direction. Frank, I agree with the tied batteries should be same age . I bought 2 today and installed them, then next time I will buy 2 more, your right I might just need 4. I need to buy the meter to check on voltage usage and I will have a better idea. I also have come up with an idea on the waste water if I need too do it..........If I need more storage I can mount a tank on the TV, than go with a Macerator system on the TH, when the tanks are full transfer to the TV and keep going, I already have room for a fresh water tank in under the front of the TH. I need the build the hold down and tie up the cables.

Terry,
That's a good idea, I am not familiar with the macerator system, I would wonder how much head that it pumps. The hold downs for the batteries should be no problem.

I just put in a macerator pump for connecting my S&B to the sewer (all uphill). It's probably sized a little larger than something Terry would need

Hi guys, Frank, I'm not sure how much head it would pump I'll have to check, it wouldn't be much of a rise maybe 3 ft. Bokobird, that might be just a little bigger than I need for sure .

Terry,
That's what I was thinking, but like I said, I am not familiar with them, I have seen them, but never took the time to read the specs on them. I do like your idea about using the TV to extend your ability to boondock.
Frank
