I don't think he knows he's not going.........
Maybe just a blanket in the cab will do for now!!

Too bad about the belgian rotties- large breeds like that never seem to live very long..
I would have loved to see that bedtime.

Popeye, We started the whole bunch with one that we wanted originally, he was named smokey, I swear he could understand every word we said, he would get in his bed and actually cover himself up with a blanket, he also carried that blanket everywhere. He also was the first to go, still miss him. Well we are welding away, made the hold downs and I am welding them on now, (inside taking a break, getting warm and resting the ole back) hope to have the majority welded up on the frame work today. then its building tool boxes.

How's the knee liking the cold ???
Must be pretty good ! That thing is coming right along , in spite of the weather. My mind works better in the wood world but it sure is cool to see someone building with metal like that.

Good afternoon, Popeye, actually my knees are real good, its the rest of me that hurts like hell, but that's my life, I can manage it. It seems to be coming together, it should, I've built in in my head many times .

Looking good Terry, if the weather holds out and you don't hit the big chill that you usually get in January, you might get the bed built. Maybe not painted up, but ready to paint and install.
Frank

P.S., Almost forgot, HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE

Hi Frank, thanks, for paint I'm going to use a liquid bed liner on the top surface, figured it would be durable and anti skid, the steel can be slippery . The temps are going down Mon and Tues. single digits, but going back up by Wed into the 40's would be nice if it would stay there.

Looks great Terry! I like it. I like the plAn and layout.

How are you going to paint underneath Terry? Will you remove the body when done and go at that? Wish we lived closer, I have a killer sand blaster, 125 cfm, do that entire peace in an hour or so. You really need to get that coating the put on the raw steel off.

Of course if we lived closer,,,,,, you would be in S.C.. freezing my tookus here in N.Y..

Good Morning, Lloyd, you bring up a good point, ROAD TRIP to SC. no really I will do it the hard way, or bring it to someone to have it done, (sand blasted). Underneath I will use an undercoating type of paint. Hey its been "warm" here in NY. Tim, thanks! I wouldn't mind that 58* send some this way . Got a couple inches of snow flurries last night.

Man the tail looks great on your hauler Terry! I here ya on the aches in the cold, wasn't even that bad yesterday and after throwing out a bunch of stuff in the garage I got stiff. Looking at your hauler had me looking over at my old Miller Legend gas powered welder that has spent most of it's time outside since like 1985 being used mostly for a generator during outages! I decided when we get back from Florida I think I should give it a cosmetic overhaul and clean it up and paint it. It sure is a good machine though I have not used it for much welding since I got my mig. It still runs great but like me it is a little harder to get started, cleaned the carb out but think that needs a real rebuild as it was pretty clogged up with all that great ethanol they push on us! There is a kit out there to run it on gas, propane and natural for a few hundred dollars , considering that as we have NG to the house, when Sandy hit here, I felt like some kind of pilgrim, foraging for gas everyday for the 17 days we had no electric! Looks Great and I think i'm going to use that spray on bedliner for our Dakota too, I have one of those plastic slide in liners but it messed up the primer on the top rails of the bed so I don't want that with the new paint! Stay Warm and Carry On! Bobby

HI Bobby, Thanks! My father used a gen/welder for years I guess he was one of the original full timers, him and my mother sold their house and bought a 5th wheel camper way back in the middle 70's full timed it for 20 yrs before building a log cabin, he was in his 70's then, but he used that welder/gen for everything, he was a logger that lived on the job sites, a real boondocker. I never did like those over the bedrail liners they always cause more problems then they are worth. I like the spray on liner that they do commercially tough stuff. Well gotta go back out and weld some more, I'm warmed up.
