So Terry, I get checking the grounds and reseating all the connectors,,,, which I would use some of that stuff Popeye pointed out.

Beyond that, how will you know if the VPN is bad?

Any clue as to what the junkyards get for a set of computers?

It seems to me, you are clearly in the area of where this electronics stuff is miserable to deal with. Its not cheap, and even the techs with the tools are never sure, they plug and replace. And then try the next part....

I guess maybe you find another set,,, then plug and replace?

Terry,
Condolences for the loss of your friend.
Sounds like you got hooked up with the right guy at the dealer. Hopefully you can find the right set of computers to soup up the Tot'r. Glad that the micro burst missed you. We had a tornado go through down at Clearwater which is next to Tampa. Thankfully noone was hurt but there was some damage.

Good Morning, Lloyd, The Mechanic said basically if the powers and ground works out ok the VPM is N/G. The dealers used to keep known good units and try them if it worked then they replaced, quicker then diagnostics, unfortunately they no longer have those units, (at least at this dealer). This coming week I'm going to start making calls for parts and see what available and cost, I've seen prices of 750.00 just for the ECM on Ebay. Frank, I lucked out to be able to talk to someone honest enough to tell me what he remembered and just didn't blow smoke on what he didn't, rare today for sure. Glad the tornado missed you.

popeye, That's always a great idea. Here's a couple of pics, his name was Dave, here he is with the biggest pancakes I've ever seen, and a bunch of us where the pancakes are served, its in Bennington, Vermont and we go there for breakfast a couple times of year.

Lloyd, This is one of the most friendliest little diners and they give alot of food for the price, (and good too) plus they are bike friendly, if they can put up with our crowd (we have taken over half of the diner before) they gotta be good!

Terry,
Looks like a good place to go, and a lot of the small mom and pop places are biker friendly.

Wow, Terry that's a stack of pancakes! Sorry for your loss of your friend!
I used to stop at the "Little America" in Flagstaff, Az. and order the blueberry pancakes,(at the snack bar, not the restaurant), and had to only order two instead of three,(because they were so big) and the cook got used to me, when I would order like that! She would look out, see me, smile, then fix me the best blueberry pancakes ever! She would put so many fresh blueberries, the pancakes would just about fall apart!
Hope the VPN is just a weak ground, and a easy fix! Rail!

Good Morning, Another cold morning 16* might get to 40's today. then snow showers and rain tomorrow and Tuesday . Might start to warm later next week . I really need warm weather to diag the electrical system its gloves off and tedious stuff. Maybe start upgrading the TH'ers systems that I have better parts for.
