Weather report

I find it humorous to read the weather report on this post in the morning. I don't have to tune in to Al Roker. I do enjoy all of the updates, and hope to see anyone of you on the road. Jon

Actually I have had little trouble with windows 10.
I could have used some of your cool temps as I was mowing today and it was 92. Had a breese pick up and made it a little better.

I am quite enjoying 10 as well. Bit of getting used to but works well. I went from 7 to 10. No 8 or 8.1 for me.

I had a older Vista laptop and got this one here a while ago it was 8.1 and upgraded to 10 several months ago, the only issue that I have had is it locks up occasionally, it's random, and I have to do a force restart, other than that I've adjusted to it. Finally got the trim installed on the 5th wheel, counter sunk the stainless screws, put some threadlock on the screws and screwed it down, oh and didn't like the square corners so I 45 deg. them. Gotta finish up a video of doing the trim along with how I cut the aluminum with the plasma cutter.

Do you have a touch screen ?

I used a program called never 10 (1 click and done) on my 7 and no worries !
I'll get 10 (with a touch screen)when I need a new laptop , maybe in 4 years....

Never got above 65 today pretty much the same as yesterday without the wind.
Yesterday 40mph and gusty ,,,a big branch fell at the PD . Took out the Animal Control and Marine Warden's trucks and 2 detective cruisers....

Once I get home I am going to reformat my 7 machine to 10 and use it as a print server. Having Janet's and my computer using the same program will make networking them easier and all will be well. (We are not in Kansas anymore!!! LOL)

Popeye, I do have a touch screen, it's a Toshiba Satellite, I can take it apart and use it like a tablet. Gordon, I have a wireless network in my S&B (it's the same one I had in my Auto shop, at that time Eleanor's computer that was in the office was my server, all the techs had a computer at their workstations and could access the internet for info systems and with the service counter. I also had free internet for my customers that they could access while they were waiting for their vehicle to serviced.

That sounds nice Terry, musta made the shop run real smooth !

If I had a touch screen I might be more eager to switch.
That and if I did , I know I can change settings so it wouldn't do downloads until I was on a non metered bandwidth wi-fi (which my mobile hotspot is) but thinking I would always be spending too much time finding one for who knows how long to receive any downloads MS thinks I need....
whenever !!!!.
SOOOOOOO , I can wait , W7 suits me just fine and they don't stop support for 7 till 2020.

If anyone got 10 without wanting it or wanted it and ended up not liking it , you have 30 days to switch back to your last operating system .

If you did have 8 or even 8.1 , you're probably way better off staying with 10 and learn now what you'll have to eventually anyway !

Touch screen as well. I have tried it a couple times but am so used to the key board and shortcut keys I do not feel motivated to move to touch.

Soon though.

Good Morning, Popeye, Yup the shop was very organized in the technology area, I had a doctor that we serviced his car told us that our waiting room was better than his office. I styled it after a Lincoln dealer that I was at once, we had recliners and free coffee ect. Gordon, The laptop I have has a full keyboard I just can disconnect it and use it as a tablet, the touch screen is handy. looks like we're going to have a rainy day in a couple of hrs. maybe some severe thunderstorms later in the afternoon.

Good morning, all.

I am with popeye on W7. My laptop, and all of the software, works well. I disabled the annoying prompts (invitations) to join W10. A few weeks ago the "invitation" changed to something like "your machine WILL be converted to W10 on ...." That's when I searched the net and disabled the upgrade. Don't tell me you are going to change my equipment against my will!

When this one needs replacement, W10 should be stable (no lockups?) on a new laptop. Maybe 4 years like popeye?

Also, the move from the old S&B (we had DSL) to the current S&B (4G mobile hotspot) has been a change. We are using Straight-Talk with their $50 4G device. My wife and I both seem to think it is faster than the old DSL. We have a weak 4G/LTE signal here (tower is not close) but it still beats DSL. We are still learning how much data we use. We are buyiing the prepaid data cards (Straight-talk is sold at Walmart) as we are still in the testing/learning mode with this.

We also do not use a landline for phone service here. Both of us use cellphones for everything anyway. We were paying about $84 per month for the old landline. The primary reason we had it was for DSL. I can probably buy a lot of mobile data for less than that every month.

The cellphone signal is a bit weak here. Our iphones sometimes lose signal or work on a slower (1x instead of 3G) speed. I am reading some other threads on iRV2 and learning about signal boosters. They are a bit expensive, but I can buy it once and use it for a long time. Unlike the landline monthly forever fee.

Besides, the concrete truck ripped out the overhead phone line to our house when they poured the slab for our building!

I also wanted to learn about mobile hotspots so, when we travel, we can take our laptops and everything will just keep working. Straight-talk works on the Verizon network, so we should get pretty good coverage while traveling.
